Not trying anything gc wise on this terrain is dissapointing.
I know that Carr is a classy rider on his day, but the gc riders should climb it faster than him after being in the breakaway...

Nobody wants to get seriously injured on this tricky wet descent just to be in the top 3 in this joke race

This race should also serve as a reminder that all the 'OMG this new generation is so attacking' talk is bulls***. The actual thing that's going on is that the big 6 is so much stronger than everyone else than they can do whatever they want, meanwhile most non-big 6 riders wouldn't recognise an opportunity to attack if it was dancing in front of them in a Rapha Giro kit.

To be fair, sort of understandable that no one is willing to risk anything given the wet descent with the Giro coming up adding to the fact that Ineos still have 5 guys. Shame because I thought the route overall was good but it really turned out to be lacklustre.

This stage needed another climb, although the weather probably would have neutralised the action anyway.

In their defense the weather is not good and it is not worth risking a participation in the Giro. That is a very good reason to ride like this.

This entire week was a beautiful showcase for how lucky we are that the days of Skyneos dominance are largely behind us and frankly this is all what it was good for.

Yeah that final climb was a beautiful road it was too bad the front (Ineos) group was just plodding along like that. It wasn’t even like when they did their power train stringing out the bunch and we could at least watch riders struggling to hang on. Just looked like a group ride.

Riccitello at least tried, but once Poole immediately marked him it was all over.

Quite a shame because they use to attack hard when it was Giro Trentino and they had some monster climbs.
Back in the day the Italian PCT team had legit gc riders for the Giro and for them this race was much more important than it is to some WT team today.
