Cofidis having Dati as a stagiaire last year and then not signing him kind of sums up why they're not a WT team anymore. Yes, it's only Coppi e Bartali and the Tour of the Alps, but how often have they had neopros getting multiple wins in their debut season?

Suprised Pidcock was even there at the end, read an article saying his injuries are a 2 month off kind of thing
Yeah, there’s a great article in The Athletic where he details his recovery. There’s also an interview with his physio etc. Seems that after they drained the fluid out of the knee he recovered pretty well. Although he did say that while he’s been training well he knows he’ll probably not be in top shape this week. So second in the first stage is an amazing result. All in all, he’s a very lucky boy because it was a pretty nasty crash that could have resulted in far worse injuries if not death.

He also said after today's stage that this was his worst day ever on a bike, that there were no positives to take apart from the fact that he can only get better, that he felt as though it was full gas up every climb and that his second place didn't happen through anything else but following wheels as he had no sprint at all and there were no sprinters in the race.

So I surmise that he doesn't really see it happening that he will dethrone Pogi on Sunday.

With the bunch sprint out of the way, the terrain is looking more challenging on stage 2:

Come on, Bernal, no sandbagging.
