Moose (and anyone else in town for the race): I just posted in another thread about the outstanding Utah microbrews on tap. Head down to Squatters sometime soon and have some sweet potato fries and an Emmigration Amber for me. Pics please. God i miss that stuff.

Or if the whiskey is your thing, i recommend visiting High West distillery in Park City. I don't think you can watch the crit from there tho and that's a shame.

I didn't think they were selling their own whiskey yet (still aging the first barrels!). I think the vodka's their own, though. This may have changed since I left Salt Lake a few years ago--not sure when they began aging their spirits.

DAOTEC, three things are obvious from your pics:

1- Utah has beautiful mountains,
2- Utah has beautiful girls, and
3- Leipheimer made that poster himself. :)

They're doing blends from other stock right now. Expensive, and award winning just the same...

Jeebus! Leecheimer fanboys are even worse than Armstrong fanboys. Apparently if you don't love Levi then you should not even post. Well, screw that. Leipheimer is a boring racer and a boring guy. No one will pay more attention to the ToU because he is there. In the post stage interview yesterday he proudly called himself Mr. Invisible.

Aside from one of the three big guns on a team who is a member of the Pro Tour spending his time slumming in the U.S. instead of competing with people at his own level, it does not help that two weeks ago the manager of his former team revealed that he was manipulating his blood. What type of message does that send?

Now that is funny!

Stage Four | Saturday, August 21, 2010

Downtown Park City - Criterium at altitude 7000 feet high^^ wow and going slightly up (150ft) for about half a mile of every lap 1.06m.
Let's see who got the o2 for that

Pro Race - 4:30 - 6:00pm
Distance - 90 minutes (pro race)
Starting Location - 5th & Main, Park City
Ending Location - 5th & Main, Park City

My kind of crit. If you're gonna have one, make it one with ~4500ft of climbing and at 700ft elevation. I like the parcours of this race. Too bad the ToU and the ToC can't switch fields. Kinda the same way I felt about the Giro and Tour.

Im always amazed at the 5000ft plateau that dominates Utah, Colorado New Mexico etc. To me a sea level born and bred fellow it's crazy. In LeTour and Giro they climb up 6000-9000ft(Hor Cat) but it's usually from a plateau of 2000ft. I want to vist the Western US so much and ride it !!

Tomorrow's final climb is a bit deceiving. Not hard starting out but there's a 3-mile stretch that's brutal. Tanner's Flat is the king of misnomers. It hits 13% at that point.

Looking at the profil it goes from '6500 to '8000 last 5miles. 500ft a mile. This is a good race. The more I see of it the more impressed I am. ENECO my rear. Flat as a pancake!!

The start of the climb is exactly 5 miles from my house. I'm going to ride up there tomorrow to watch the race. Pretty stoked since the race passes within a few hundred meters of my house.

It should be noted that tomorrow's climb actually does not go all the way to the top. It stops at Snowbird Resort. The road continues 2 more miles to the ski resort at Alta, then another 1.5 miles or so up to the start of the Catherine's Lake hiking trail.

The views are indeed sublime.

Louder,Louder,Louder go Team BMC......Maybe my pick for the overall (J.Louder)might actually happen?

He still has a "little" bit of time to make up. I think he burned all his matches today for the stage win knowing that he does not have a shot anymore at the overall. He looked great today.

It was freakin' hot today on the course. The race looked brutal.

I think Louder came in with about 45 seconds over the pack that included Leipheimer. His lead was holding at about 40 to 50 seconds for what seemed like half the race.

Thnx BroDeal....Seems like a good stage to have watched live.

racing hills and altitude in utah is like racing underwater with cotton in mouth. Not enough O2 and extremely dry.
