Tomorrow will settle a few things. It's basically going to come down to the climb up the back side of Big Mountain. It's not terribly steep, but it's a substantial climb. I don't think anyone will get dropped from the lead group after the top. There's only a small rise left up to Little Mountain.

The descent is screaming fast with 3 switchbacks.

The Nebo climb is significantly harder from either side.

Thanksgiving Point to Mount Nebo |mountaintop finish ^^^

Start Time - 10:00am
Estimated Finish - 1:30pm
Distance - 78.5 miles
Starting Location - Xango World Headquarters [MAP]
Ending Location - Summit of Mt. Nebo (9300ft) [MAP]

Thanksgiving Point to an uphill Mount Nebo finish

A new stage this year, Thanksgiving Point to Nebo is a mostly flat course with the exception of a grueling 20 mile (approx. 4,500 ft.) climb to the finish.

Stage-02.jpg

Watched the riders come over Little Mountain (the last hill before the descent).
There were some pained faces. Impressive ride from Tanner and Dowsett.

Groups everywhere. Was a bit surprised to see Phinney that far back, but he's not a climber and this is definitely a race for climbers.

Tomorrow will be a major sort-out. Nebo is a climber's mountain. Hopefully, we'll get a bit more rain like today to cool things down.

That last section before the top is nasty.

Nice one Alex Dowsett. Would love to see him do well tomorrow. Be good to see if he's 'a TTer who can't climb for s**t' as some people on here have said or a much better rider than that.

If they haven't agreed a deal already then Brailsford is an idiot. The main purpose of the team is to develop young British talent and he has shown this year that he has potential.

Yes, If he doesnt end up at Sky then he'll have a host of other teams coming in for him i suspect.

There's going to be plenty of talent spotters at the World Championships so hopefully he can be signed up soon if he isn't already.

Today stage 2 ^^

So after this Greusome climb to Mount Nebo who will end up in Yellow ?

280px-Mount_Nebo_Utah.jpg

Mount Nebo is crowned by three peaks, with the northern peak reaching 11,928 ft (3,636 m). Original surveys placed the southern peak as the highest at 11,877 ft (3,620 m). Unfortunately, when the mountain was resurveyed in the 1970s and the northern peak was found to be the highest, two substantial trails already led to the south summit. Parts of the mountain are covered in snow from mid-October until July. It is a popular, although strenuous, destination for hikers from the nearby town of Nephi, and the city of Salt Lake City. The Mount Nebo Scenic Byway, a National Scenic Byway, departs I-15 at Payson and climbs to over 9,000 feet before rejoining the interstate at Nephi. The route features panoramic views of Mount Nebo and the Utah Valley and Utah Lake far below.

No rain. Dark clouds to south. Some blue overhead. Field at 25 seconds. Should be together by climb. #ToU10

At least based on yesterday, those statements should have been aimed at a different podium position.
