I hope HTC don't leave, I'm not a fan but I hate seeing teams disappear. Don't like them winning? How about other teams move up to their level then HTC move down to the level of the other teams.

And how many soigneurs, mechanics, drivers and various other people do think will lose their jobs? 30, 40, 50? How many is justifiable so you get to see one less bunch sprint?

And what about women's cycling, which desperately struggles for money, losing it's biggest team? Is that worth so you can see one more breakaway succeed at the Tour of Romandie?

They didn't invent sprint trains and sprint trains won't die with them. However, your constant 'I hate hate schtick' will remain tiresome.

A team like this collapsing is never good for cycling.
Oh please, teams disappear from cycling all the time, it's as much a part of the sport as pedaling.

In what way the biggest???

In terms of HTC, I think he means most widely known brand. I presume HTC have a presence in almost every developed nation. The same can't be said for most other teams - except possibly Garmin??

With regards to sky/news corporation...I would suggest they have the biggest financial muscle..?

A lot of people are put off by teams who court riders clearly under contract with the intention of pilfering them à la Team Sky; a lot of people are put off by quasi-nationalistic teams; a lot of people are put off by self-aggrandising hype; a lot of people are inherently mistrustful of the project after the Pegasus debacle (or blame them for it). There are many reasons to dislike GreenEdge (especially if one is not Australian).

There are some riders on HTC that I quite like, or would do if they weren't riding for HTC. I want High Road Sports to vanish, and the people responsible (not the riders, but the people like Stapleton, who have no soul and view everything in win percentage pie charts and excel spreadsheets) not to be involved in the sport anymore. It's not like I'm wishing death or illness on them. I just want that team gone and not replaced by some team that is High Road in all but name (like de Rosa is LPR or Colnago is CSF-Navigare).

And is the 'poaching' that GreenEdge are doing much different from any other team on the pro circuit?

Rumors talk about an offer from Team Sky to Gilbert for about 2.5 million but he's asking 300.000euro more.

if you really liked gilbert you would want him to go to BMC.

Why? It's not overly important who he rides for if your a fan. Especially considering he's going to be the team leader in all his races anyway and will probably take his supporting cast with him. A real Gilbert fan would want him to see ride for AG2R

why ? To clash with GVA again because he doesn't want to be a domestique? Or with Evans who's top in the same races?
He'd be better of a QST who don't have a good leader in those races but have some good people (Pineau, Devenyns, maybe Chavanel)
Or Sky, because let's be serious, Gerrans is not ever going to win an Ardennes classic whilst being a leader. But he could be an awesome domestique, and maybe win AGR when everyone's eyeing Phille.

They do indeed. But it should never be a cause for celebration.

Who cares where he goes, and where the hell did you get AG2R from?

He'll go where he thinks he can get the best team, support, contract and money.

I couldn't care less how many would lose their job and I don't give a rats *ss about womans cycling. as long as real cycling stays competitive and entertaining to watch. I also hope to see some day as in body building 2 different leagues, one clean and one with all the juice you can handle under supervision. guess which one will be more watched?

I was just having a laugh at AG2R as there about the least likely team to sign him. And really I think it shouldn't matter if your a fan where he goes. Personally I think he will want ti take some if his guys with him and will go where ever is most accommodating and pays the most. My money would be on BMC

I just read that Vegard Robinson Bugge of Joker-Medrida has been invited to a Quick Step training camp in Kortrijk in June. They apparently are inviting a bunch of young riders to come and train so that they can get to know them. Does anyone know more about this? Is it something they usually do?

They have also invited riders from Belgium, Netherlands, France, Spain, Eritrea (Teklehaimanot perhaps?) and Latvia (I'm guessing Skujins and Flaksis).

You really need to gain a sense of humour. Why would you make such an aggressive comment towards something that was clearly meant as a joke?

well, I guess I know why you have to be so negative towards anything BMC because you'd rather **** than Evans win the tour and you love seeing him fail so a comment like that is no surprise.

in bodybuilding it actually worked out that way as all attention and sporters basically went to the juicing league.

clearly you have no idea about dutch humor. that is more aggressive than you can imagine. I think 90% of my dutch posts would get banned here. for us is normal to talk to each other like that. you ever seen me and ruben/dekker-tifosi against each other?

yeah I think evans is about as entertaining as watching the national championships of liechtenstein and I cover that in a humorous sauce by verbally bashing all around me :)
