All Arabian cyclists would have lost the time cut on the second stage of the Tour last year anyway. They'd be too busy collecting the oil from the crashed motor bike.

Ok, bad joke, I know.

I know from a sponsor QST were to pay 4 mil for Contador(of which specialized would pay 1 mil) get Navarro and Hernandez on the team and let Devolder go.. So nope, he wasn't bigmouthing. And when you have a man like Boonen on your team you're not going to go for GC.

oh yeah, where did quickstep say they would pay him that?? I only heard lefevere and specialized wa sin the deal anyway with any team they'd pay 1 million euros. I've never once hard contador say quickstep was an option

The Astana joining Saxo/ Liquigas sounds interesting. I think a lot of PC riders shall next yr move up into PT teams as well.

Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad reported today that after taking to JV, there was a distinct possibility Thomas Dekker would be riding for the Garmin WT team next season, after spending the last few months of this year with the Chipotle Development squad.

It's a shame that the piece of slime will be able to go almost straight to a WT team. Makes me sick.

Let's see someone like Rasmussen gets kept out of cycling forever and this little brat can go to one of the biggest World Tour teams without a problem. Not even Ricco went straight away to a World Tour team.

Floyd Landis also never found a decent team again.

Di Luca was even worse imo, waaaay worse

There should actually come a rule that dopers who sat out their ban should enter the first year in a pro conti team :D

And yes, that would also mean Contador if he gets banned. He'll get invited to the Vuelta anyway :p

Well, Thomas Dekker never worked to create much sympathy for himself even when everyone was loving him as the golden child of Dutch cycling (this was in the days when Robert Gesink was but a twinkle in Erik Breukink's eyes)... Then his continual lying and arrogance have led me to completely sour on him.

I guess he's like a Dutch Ricco... Only less prominent.

EDIT: Very much agree, btw, with El Pistolero's assessment that Dekker could very well turn up another positive test in the near future. Garmin, who at lleast to the outside world still possess the sheen of a 'clean' team, would be advised not to burn their fingers by touching this guy.

Well, Dekker seems to be returning to a continental team, even better....

I don't see what the big deal is with Dekker. He was caught with a retroactive test (the only one so far...makes you wonder), lost all results from the end of 2007 untill 2009, banned for a full two years, and has to return to a continental team. Really, if you compare that to Basso, Vino or Di Luca (the last one who was banned twice, and saw his penalty seriously decreased because of some vague cooperation), how does he get off easy?

I think it's just people who didn't like Dekker in the first place, or are trying to be extra tough on their 'own' dopers, to show they have no national-bias.

Mikel Nieve is from Leitza, so Movistar is actually more his local team than Euskaltel. As an amateur he rode for Burunda, which was an arm of what is now the Caja Rural PCT. At the time it was in collaboration with Unzué's Abarcá Sports lineup, but Nieve moved to Orbea Continental and went under the Fundación Euskadi umbrella.

Sporza guys said something about Gilbert definitely not going to a Belgian team or something along those lines. That would pretty much just leave BMC as team for him.

How is Feillu a "big signing'"? How many WorldTour points has he racked up this season?

It was known that Garmin were looking at him, as your article shows. But the wording of the article you linked to makes it clear, as was the case prior to today, that JV had decided on nothing yet. But today it was confirmed that Garmin will indeed sign him.

I think it's a pretty good move, assuming that Dekker really is willing to give things a go without the special sauce. And I really don't think that the guy is getting any kind of preferential treatment as compared to other top tier riders caught doping.
