How is Feillu a "big signing'"? How many WorldTour points has he racked up this season?

His euro points would be through the roof tho.

Am I wrong in thinking they have any sort of meaning with team WT selection?

Anyway excellent (re)signing, very underrated rider imo.

Grischa Niermann extends with Rabo for another year. This will be his 13th (!) season with the team.

Wow, you don't see loyalty like that in cycling every day.

I Heard from an australian cycling friend that Saxo's Richie porte will go to the new Australian team...Greenedge as the team leader.

Not sure how much sense this makes seeing as Porte's still a rookie, but it may be the best they can get

Team leader for what? Time trials?

or does he just not get offers from anyone else? ;)
He's a pure domestique and road captain, teams need those as well.

edit: turns out it will be his 14th season for Rabo, currently he's in his 13th.

Probably the most loyal single rider in the péloton today is José Vicente García Acosta. The big Basque is going to be 39 at the end of the Tour (though he isn't going to be riding this year), and turned pro in 1995 with Banesto to domestique for Miguel Indurain. He's into his 17th season as a pro, in which he has managed 9 victories.

Here is his team history:

1995 - Banesto
1996 - Banesto
1997 - Banesto
1998 - Banesto
1999 - Banesto
2000 - Banesto
2001 - iBanesto.com
2002 - iBanesto.com
2003 - iBanesto.com
2004 - Illes Balears-Banesto
2005 - Illes Balears-Caisse d'Epargne
2006 - Caisse d'Epargne-Illes Balears
2007 - Caisse d'Epargne
2008 - Caisse d'Epargne
2009 - Caisse d'Epargne
2010 - Caisse d'Epargne
2011 - Movistar Team

Last year, Christian Meier tweeted this:
"Got to ride on the front today chasing the break with "Cente"(Vicente Garcia Acosta), one of the most respested domestiques out there. He is a legend and it made my day, mad respect for that guy, if someday I can become half the domestique that guy is I will be happy."

Well, Thomas Dekker never worked to create much sympathy for himself even when everyone was loving him as the golden child of Dutch cycling (this was in the days when Robert Gesink was but a twinkle in Erik Breukink's eyes)... Then his continual lying and arrogance have led me to completely sour on him.

I guess he's like a Dutch Ricco... Only less prominent.

EDIT: Very much agree, btw, with El Pistolero's assessment that Dekker could very well turn up another positive test in the near future. Garmin, who at lleast to the outside world still possess the sheen of a 'clean' team, would be advised not to burn their fingers by touching this guy.

Total BS to compare him to Ricco. But I guess it's totally different when you know him personally like I do.
I'd have tons of arguments but you wouldn't want to accept any of them so I'm not gonna waiste any time on that.
Just saying you're REALLY far off comparing him to Ricco.

I think Dekker has been, certainly since he last revelations, been much fairer and much more up front about his past than for instance Ivan Basso  and I'm not even going to compare to Di Luca. He deserves at least as much credit as Basso did when he came back. Nothing like Ricco.

I like Dekker. Good to have him back. When was the last time you saw him Ruben. Has he been giving you poker tips again?

To be fair, you don't know Riccò personally either. And when was the last time Dekker sneaked into a race, disregarding every rule, just to help you chase a breakaway?

I'm sure Ricco is nice to his friends as well. Maybe a better comparison would be Sinkewitz, who seems to be a very nice guy. But still a recidivist.

Dekker definitely got screwed, the only rider ever to be banned after retroactive testing, but to say he's been up front about it... well, yes he did admit it, I'll give you that.

Well, he's not that young, and he definitely earned a leadership role with his '10 Giro.

I wonder who Saxo will be signing next year though, having secured sponsorship. The Saxtana merger which was mentioned actually sounds mutually beneficial to me.

Ryo makes a lot of claims, Dekker although super talented and excellent as in espoirs doesn't compare to Gesink in the high mountains.

Thomas Dekker is also 2 years older and Gesink was only 21 at the time, but don't let facts and logic ruin your argument.

Yeah...Gesink just turned pro a couple of months before that. You might as well argue that Dekker was a better climber than Andy Schleck as well (and so is Sylvester Szmyd).

I used to be a big fan of Dekker, but he was never a better climber than Gesink, and never will be.
