Five of the best Italian U23 riders turn pro next year:

Nicola Boem (Zalf Fior) --> Farnese Vini
Matteo Busato (Zalf Fior) --> Farnese Vini
Enrico Battaglin (Zalf Fior) --> Colnago-CSF
Sonny Colbrelli (Zalf Fior) --> Colnago-CSF
Cristian delle Stelle (Trevigiani Bottoli) --> Colnago-CSF

Strange that no bigger team picked such awesome talents like Battaglin and Colbrelli.

Battaglin (and I think Colbrelli as well) had a pre-signed contract with Colnago already last year. Wise decision for both of them I think, no need to join the big boys this soon.

Omega Pharma will pair up with Quick Step, Leopard-Trek or Vancasoleil-DCM. They'll announce their final decision before the start of the Tour.
Never thought about OP with Vacansoleil. But they would be a perfect fit!

According to this article Hushovd is negotiating with several teams and he got offers from at least 8 teams for next season. He confirms Garmin-Cervelo is one of the teams his manager is in negotiations with. And says he is happy for all the offers. The most important things for him is he get to ride the big races and that the teams interessted get invitations to these races.

not sure if its on here already but a lot of rumours linking Dekker to garmin development team with a view to riding for Garmin Cervelo next year.

We've talked about them before... In the Dutch media it's pretty much considered to be a fait accompli.

Anyway, there was a documentary shown on Dutch TV Monday about the period Dekker was suspended, and they showed that already in 2010 Dekker was doing tests and consulting with doctors from Garmin. They've had their eye on Dekker for a while now.

Ya, Vaughters has said that they were in deep negotiations with him but when they got his blood profile to look at they got very suspicious and said that there was no way they would sign him.

I think what you're referring to now is the period in 2008 when Dekker was looking for a new team after announcing his break from Rabobank... Garmin was one of the teams that had reportedly shown interest, but they backed off. Eventually of course Lotto picked him up.

Now what the documentary showed was in 2010, after he'd already been suspended for at least about 9 months or so (the documentary didn't have exact dates) doing tests with a Garmin team doctor... It also showed him on a training ride with Garmin's Johan Vansummeren, although that could just be because the two are friends and not have any Garmin implication.

Adrie van Diemen was also the trainer at the Rabo-continental team when Dekker rode there. Van Diemen said Dekker was the biggest talent he ever worked with, I'm not sure he still has the same opinion

There was also reference to a meeting with vaughters by the time of the 2010 tour presentation, if I recall correctly. Later, Dekker's manager cites vaughters saying the move is "too risky".

I think riding for the continetal team will do him good. Hope he can get his head straigth, drop the partying* and work hard. He needs to grab this.

Wow, you know the swear filter is stupid when it screws up your own headlines.

Funny ----

Says pharmaceutical group is “asking too much”

Frans De **** has said that Quick Step will not merge its cycling team with Omega Pharma in 2012 The former Quick Step CEO and member of the Board of Directors said that Omega Pharma CEO Marc Coucke “is asking too much.”

Omega Pharma has co-sponsored a team with the Belgian Lotto for a number of years, but has announced they will end their relationship at the end of this season. Both have said that they plan to continue sponsoring a cycling team.

Earlier this week it was revealed that Omega Pharma was negotiating a possible merger for the coming season with three teams: Quick Step, Leopard Trek and Vacansoleil-DCM. The pharmaceutical firm hopes to announce its final partner before the Tour de France starts on Saturday.

“As far as I know, the contacts with Omega Pharma fell through last Friday,” De **** told Het Laatste Nieuws. “It will not be with us. Wednesday it is on the agenda for the Board. But for me it is clear. There are principles. Coucke is just asking too much.”

Hmmm, of the two left I think that Leopard Trek may be the one they go with. Shame really, they could turn into too much of a super team. I'd rather see them go with Vacansoleil but somehow it doesn't seem so likely.

wow quite surprised by that but good buy for BMC they have gotten another talented young rider under their belt. he is a decent sprinter which can help BMC get some wins. where did you get your news from. Its another implication that gilbert might be going to BMC as I have heard blythe is a good friend of gilbert. but its just speculating.

Calling it a rumour because I read it on twitter but apparently Peter Weening is leaving Rabobank year. He'd be snapped up pretty quickly surely?

Surprised no one is talking about HTC and they're sponsor problems. This is what I think:

How do you spell HTC-Highroad in 2012? G-R-E-E-N-E-D-G-E

HTC has been mentioned before. A popular rumour has them merging with United Healthcare.
