Fenn ive not heard anything since the national championships.

The eleven figure was bandied around in about June by a uk journalist and has been jumped on by a few others but seems largely without basis as it didnt include back then riders who had not yet renewed (Thomas and Swift) and doesnt include guys like Froome. Think it was based on educated guess. But the expectation is between 9 and 12 out, with around 8 or 9 in, leaving a net squad of 27/28

His surname is just Augustyn.

Also Froome must surely be a possible out, given his agent just said that 4 teams had inquired, although I would guess he would prefer to stay at Sky.

Also Demare and Elissonde

Although some people say FDJ isn't good for talents...

Yeah of course, how could I forget them? Elissonde looked great in Burgos and recently in Giro della Valle d'Aosta Mont Blanc and looks like a very promising climbing talent. Demare is definitely one of the most promising sprinters.

which is exactly why the 11 number first bandied around prior to the nationals in june is just guesswork by the people in question (think it was matt rendell who said 11 first). Although granted, he was the first person to mention Henao back in January

His agent also has his best interests in mind and if there's more teams "looking" at Froome now, his recontract could mean more $$$. Standard tactics really.

Personally I don't think Sutton is likely to leave. Not only because his uncle's there, but also because he's a damn good lead out man when needed - and a new Renshaw is needed.

I also heard he is very friendly with s couple of the SKY boys, where talking J and silent Bob friends so he would want to stay and race with them.

Who on earth are Jay and Silent Bob? (Apart from Kevin Smith characters)

Just seen Dave Brailsford's interview on Sky Sports News. He didn't say a great deal but he did strongly hint that there would be a high turnover of riders for next year so the rumour about 11 riders leaving might well be true.

Confirmed departures - Arvesen, Gerrans, Pauwels

As good as confirmed - Henderson

I'd guess that the others will be - Possoni, Carlstrom, Downing, Hunt, Augustyn, Cioni.

And then one from Hayman, Sutton, Knees and Barry (all of whom I'd imagine Sky would ideally like to keep).

Cycling Quotient have Cavendish, Siutsou, Puccio, Rowe and Henao (official) as confirmed signings and Porte and Eisel as possibles. I've seen Fenn and Rasch linked as well by other sources. That would be nine. Any other rumoured signings for Sky?

Froome seems pretty likely to leave after what his agent said. That would be a massive loss for sky. Froome said there is interest from an America team. I wonder what team that is! :)

“His future in the WorldTour is secure because a major Dutch team, a US squad and a leading European team have all shown interest. A French team is also keen to sign him.”

Dutch= Rabo
US= Gaarmin
Europe= Saxo/OPQS
French= Any of them, but my guess would be AG2R

Slight exaggeration there...

His agent said he wants to stay at Sky, and Sky say they want him to stay. Not sure which of those suggests he's likely to leave.

Two weeks ago absolutely nobody would be calling Froome a massive loss.

Don't know if that works, could cause a lot of uproar as I don't think Thor, Phil or Cuddles would be particularly delighted domestiqueing for TKSCF

I dont think CJ will go anywhere which is why i didnt list the teams. He seems to be part of the in crowd (its really not hard to work out who isnt in the Sky boys club). He was rumoured to have been approached by GE at the same time as Henderson in the spring, there was some talk of him going with Hendo to Lotto, but theres been nothing recently, and he does seem to have been distanced from hendo to some effect. Sky will want to keep an aussie on board with Murdochs intrests out there.

Will be interesting to see what happens to Arvesen. He was expected to go to Leopard as a DS after they approached him last winter, but if the RS Leopard merger goes ahead there wont really be a place for him, and not sure Sky need another DS, they are already bursting at the seams with them. Then again, not so off the wall would be the idea that Yates rejoins bruyneel at the new Leopard-Shack mashup. The riders always seem to be very positive under Steven de Jongh, and theres a few riders said very good things about both Nico Portal and Knaven (who interestingly got the nod for the nationals). Havnt really seen many articles were the riders sing Seans praises.

I dont know. Steven De Jongh seems very popular. Knaven is clearly in favour having done the british nationals with Brailsford, Portal seems to have settled into life as a DS pretty well. Rod Ellingworth has been able to step back from DS'ing to just being a coach along with Ullich. The only question mark would be Ljungvist.

Five director sportifs, and three coaches (Jullich, Ellingworth and Sutton) would seem to be a pretty full compliment, so unless someone is going, Arvesen as a 6th DS would be a little extreme. Portal is the least experienced, but seems to have settled well and doing ok in the smaller one week races.

That said, if someone like Portal was offered the chance to step up to a french team he would probably take it.

Personally, i was very surprised that Yates didnt do the nationals, unless he was taking a pre-tour break.

I think I read somewhere that Arvesen has various different offers both inside cycling (and not just DS jobs I think) and also outside of cycling. He really wants to stay connected to the sport in some way though. He said that's one thing that makes it easier to make the desicion to retire, meaning that he doesn't necessarily have to leave the sport itself even when he quits riding.

I think Robbie is full of **** frankly.

Froome may well go to greenedge, but in the run up to the Vuelta he wanted a renewed contract with Sky, hes happy there, was a matter of putting in a performance. There are those who will say Froome should have got a contract earlier but honestly, with illness and injury hes not really shown form that made him worth a lucrative contract. He started picking up some form prior to the Tour but didnt make the squad, but has now had a good week in Spain.

Sky may be scratching their heads and ask why he was getting shelled off the back on little climbs in the spring (but he did struggle with illness)

Another thing to bear in mind, theres all this excitement because hes in red, but one good week does not a grand tour rider make. It could well be that his instructions were to go all out for one week supporting Brad, and then Lofkvist, Zandio, Cioni would do the work in weeks two and three.

Personally I hope Froome stays at Sky, but one good week in Spain does not inflate his value too much for me.

Agreed, think given some of the riders that look to be coming in not sure where Froome was going to fit in. Think they had him as a challenger for shorter GC's and he had not delivered and prior to last week could see him leaving. But if he continues as is and ends up top 10 or better can Sky really risk letting him go?

“Chris would love to stay at Team Sky for next year but two teams were very interested in him before the Vuelta and after taking the lead, two other teams have contacted me,”

The 'but' is important. Many people have said they would 'love' to do something but they really don't. Generally what you say after the 'but' is the realt truth and want you really mean/want. Before it can be just bull****.

It's like when you are splitting up with someone. "I really like you, but you aren't my type." Basically, I don't like you and want to split up with you but I don't want to hurt your feelings.

He may very well stay at Sky but when the dollars are being thrown around, often that is what gets people over the line.
