Yeah, when cadel says that he doesn't want a sprinter in the tdf team, he doesn't mean thor by that. He will help him in the climbs :p

Thor is pretty good on the hills and climbs anyway:p

And what does that has to do with team support ?

Woody yes the BMC were great on the flats, everywhere else ? Nothing

but and this is the thing that everyone seems to miss.

Cadel seems a bit different - the team embraces this gives him time to himself and lets him be himself - probably even laugh at his jokes. He feels happy and supported and this and this alone is the major difference in teams.

I agree with this. When Cadel is in a good place mentally he performs to his full potential. I think this is vital to a personality like Evans.

cannot believe Goss to Sky.

Everyone in Australia has taken it as given that he will be joining GreenEdge. Think GreenEdge will be willing to pay big money for him as their biggest name rider and Sky looks the worse of all possible choices for him.

scratching my head a little on this one. very strange.

Only thing that comes to mind is that Cav isnt going to sky, and sky see Goss as a more all round rider than a plain sprinter.

Didn't think of that. Just assumed like most that Cav would go to Sky. I still think he will. September 1st only a few hours away (in Australia anyway) so I guess we will know soon enough.

If Cavendish is not going to Sky then where? It can not be GE because they seemed to have closed the door on a big name signing, or were they just keeping things quiet?

Yeah until we know where Cav is going (plus Sutton, and even Hendo to a lesser extent) it's tough to say how much sense Goss to Sky makes. On the face of it it's an odd one.

As I see it it could only mean that EBH will leave because there's no way EBH and Goss can be on the same team. Far too similar riders.

Well Hendo is 99% gone. Would leave Appo, Swift, Goss as the out and out sprinters. Thats not a bad bunch of kids

thought it was all settled now i have no idea

Goss to Sky would mean Cav to Garmin?
Sutton stays at Sky and Henderson to Lotto

maybe this is why they have been talking down lack of star name. they did not even get Goss.

Apart from MSR I can't see where the big overlap between them is. Having two+ cards for MSR seems a decent idea.

Yeah I've no doubt Hendo is going, and I was almost certain Sutton wasn't going anywhere, but this Goss rumour poses a lot of questions for a number of teams.

I'll struggle to believe Goss to Sky until I see an official announcement.

Please let it all be announced tomorrow, this speculation is starting to drive me nuts.

I am already deciding this is a good think, then tomorrow will be certain Cav to Sky is the right move

Goss to Sky- Now that is a weird one. To be honest, I can't see Cav going anywhere without Eisel so it seems pretty unlikely. If Cav goes to Sky as well then it'll bad news for Swift in particular.

Really can't see that happening. Still think it'll be Eisel and Cav to Sky and Goss to GE or another team.

I don't see Goss and EBH as the same sort of rider. Goss is a fast man for a harder finish. EBH is a stage hunter and can probably manager a harder finish than Goss+cobbles. Their overlap is not that big, but yes you can only bring one of them to the Tour.

I think that Cavendish would have a bigger overlap with Goss right now. It seems like Sky has finally realised that EBH is too good at other things to just be sent out as a sprinter. I guess Goss and EBH might both want to do well in RVV and Roubaix but having multiple strong riders for those races is never a bad thing anyway plus they still have Flecha who has a better track record than either of them on cobbles so far (though we still don't know what an injury free EBH can do on the cobbles).

In a way I wish that AGR and Roubaix was a little further apart so that it was more possible to do RVV/P-R/AGR combo which would suit EBH better than M-S/RVV/P-R.

My biggest problem if it turns out that both Cav and Goss end up at Sky is that it once again puts two of the strongest sprinters in the same team rather than against each other on different teams. Cav himself has said that Goss is one of the few riders he fears in a sprint and it would be nice to see them head to head for real.
