Once it has been confirmed that Cavendish is joining the team that everyone sensible knows he is going to, what will be the next big mystery?

Surely it will be where will Valverde go? It's not definite that he will go to Movistar, who have probably never stopped paying him. Maybe he will go to Garmin or Quick Step or perhaps your favourite team? It's as uncertain as Cavendish's move.

For some reason I can only see Valverde at Movistar.

Garmin would be highly unlikely. They only seem interested in signing guys from their U23 squad at the moment.

Wasn't something said about Cervelo downgrading to just a bike sponsor rather than co-sponsor? And Garmin/Vaughters struggled/failed to get a co-sponsor in.

They haven't got much money to spend anyway.

They did stop paying him and he's earning one million less next year than before.

Not sure. I do however recall reading alot about Vaughters struggling to find a sponsor, so that would make sense.

It's not definite, but given that he has been out training in a Movistar kit with a Movistar paintjob bike I'd say the deal must be pretty close to sealed.

As for Garmin, that would be hilarious. I'd love to see how those who cling to the belief that Vaughters is sincere about his clean team agenda and investigating signings (despite ignoring Tondó based on a team he was on without looking at his data, and signing first Zirbel and then Rasmussen before violations become public) try to manipulate things to explain why Vaughters is still the god of clean cycling.

What about the signings for Lotto-Ridley? I've only known about Van Den Broeck, Greipel, and Henderson.

There's no mystery with Valverde. He's a lock to go to Movistar.

Hopefully Vaughters can just focus on any young talents he has. Farrar is great and he can try get Haussler back on track. They should try more in the US next year as well. Hopefully Vaughters can also give Dan Martin more of a protected role. Sep V shall also emerge next year. They will still be strong in the classics, just not as strong as BMC, QSOP and Cancellara.

I wonder if Dan Martin could go well at a race like F-W/ Amstel Gold next year. This year he had the crash. Do his allergies affect him at that time of year?

Cav has posted on twitter, but then deleted the post, that he is riding for sky in 2012. Why all this messing about?

I heard from someone very close to the Team he has 100%. He signed for 2.8 Million after turning down 4 from Quickstep.

I guess the support structure for him at Sky must me more appealing?

Whether they like it or not, that's what they're going to have to do with. I don't expect them to get any big signings for 2012. I keep mentioning that the team will not live up the Tweet Vaughters put out that their takes will be better than their gives for 2012. So far, Rosseler and the other two from the Chipotle squad don't even stand up to the quality of Hushovd in my opinion.

For them racing in the states, they need to do something better than just a top 5 overall. The way I see it is that if Vaughters sees a rider in the top 5, he'll tell them to just make sure they keep that and not bother going any higher. Why do I think that? You're looking at the guy who stopped Tyler from riding his own race at Flanders and preferred to sprint for a 12th place.
Dan Martin is really Garmin's best shot at a big name rider. I mean in the Vuelta I saw he wasn't afraid of attacking, and it seems as if his attacks do cause something in the group as opposed to a Vandevelde or Danielson who just sit in the pack. Danielson said he'd attack in the Tour, but we never saw that. Garmin needs more riders like Martin. As for his allergies, he said he had some surgery done to alleviate his allergies prior to the start of the season.

Well not if they don't want to wind up ACF, which in internet meme talk is 'doing it for the lulz'.

Me no understand sorry, my post was a joke, I thought yours was too.

A lot of speculation that Mark Cavendish will be announced today as joining Sky in a 2.5 million pounds deal having turned down other teams including quickstep who offered him in excess of 4 million a year. Neil is in London today attending the event as press, so if the news comes through, you will hear it as soon as we do.
(although our hunch is that Sky will announce him tomorrow)
