If Caja Rural will have a chance to get a Wild Card if they bring in a popular rider like Samu Sanchez and/or if they do well in some of the early (ASO) races of the season. Only IAM and Cofidis have the wild card pretty much in the bank already, so the last two wild cards is still up for grabs.

GP Blanco is right about the depth of the team, but ASO might give them a Wild Card knowing that Caja will line up with their best riders for the Tour anyway.

Right now i don't fancy their chances though, but it's in no way impossible.

Caja are a dead cert for the Vuelta, but they don't really have the depth to do two back to back GTs, and it would be more important to their sponsors to do well at La Vuelta. As mentioned, they denied interest in Luísle before they signed him so all this is is them trying to give me hope for a short while before shattering me with a punishing blow of confirmation, leaving me defeated.

Seriously, with that money they could get Samuel Sánchez who, OK, never won a GT and isn't exactly young himself, but as a Spanish Olympic champion is probably still more marketable to the Spanish audience that Caja are selling to than Horner will ever be. Also Samu has fewer considerations of his own grandeur and would allow them to dedicate more people up the road to totally suicidal attacking (after all, it's not like Euskaltel have been shy to involve themselves in moves protecting Samu).

They've already told us their roster was finalised before signing Luísle though, so if they did sign Horner, it would be interesting to see what it was for and where the funds came from.

Apparently Vivelo is reported as willing to cover the salary of Horner.

Ciclo21.com reports that the U.S. distributor of bike sponsor Vivelo reached out to Horner directly to inquire about signing the 42-year-old to the Spanish Pro Continental team for 2014.

According to the proposed deal, Vivelo would cover Horner’s entire salary.

who knew that vivelo bots that used to spam our loved forum would reach such a level:D

if vivelo does this thing, they will have my respect 4 life

Maybe we can get them unbanned from the forum to sweeten the deal.

Honestly though I wouldn't want to negotiate with them lol.

MTN are going for the Giro as their primary target, not sure if they have the depth (yet) to be competitive in two grand tours.

i'm pretty sure they haven't at least not Giro-Tour. But i wasn't aware that the Giro Wildcards had been awarded yet.

They haven't been awarded yet. Getting into the Giro is just their goal. They have a whole 'get Africa to the Giro' campaign.
