That's hilarious, they want another overrated classics rider with no endurance? :p

I'm not so sure they'd be on the same team if Boom goes to Sky though...

Boom didn't have marginal gains in his career so far, how can you realistically compare him to EBH?

Boom could even climb early in his career (now not at all). Wouldn't suprise me if at Sky he suddenly dropped 3/4th of the peloton uphill in the Sky train in july, and blow away Cancellara and Martin in the prologues and time trials. Marginal gains after all

To be fair Boom has already won a Dauphine prologue, done well at the WCRR and P-R.

yep, but in 2009 he already won a vuelta medium mountain stage and he won tour of belgium by being the strongest rider in the hilly stage (he didn't win that stage but he was super strong there, dropping ivanov who won AGR earlier that year). After 2009 i've never see him climbing anywhere near that level again (too much weight added for cobbles?)

If he loses some weight he could become EBH2.0

Suck at the cobbled races he targets and then be a great domestique in the Sky train in France. :p

Delahaye proudly shows his and Gesink's ergometer results at the start of every season, look they can push 20 Watts more! But he forgets to add that they also weigh 2 kilograms more every season.

Problem is: Boom doesn't like to be domestique.
Indeed. Blanco says he's great at staying at the front of the peloton, and thus he's a great domestique for their GC riders... but the problem is that Boom is often in the front with no one in his wheel.

Nah, when Sky sign riders who actually were talented as youngsters, they don't improve at all. Only riders who sucked before they were 25 become great with Sky - Froome, Wiggins, Porte, Kiry, Lopez etc.

If you look at the Sky guys who actually are talented, their improvement have been minimal (or nonexistent).

I think there will be some important transfers this year, regarding:

the riders of RadioShack
Henao and Uran
a lead-out man for Cav
Sagan
Saxo Bank (they need some serious reinforcements)

I think Saxo Bank has strengthened, taking a nice domestique (Rogers) from your direct rivals (Sky) for the Tour is definitely strengthening. Meanwhile Sky is definitely weaker at the Tour than last time, and all others except Froome and Contador are very much odds against.

It's just EBH who hasn't improved. Maybe he just wasn't that talented, or didn't have margin for growth.

it's very simple. in u23 and juniors there are no 200+ km races

So everyone must must be rubbish at 200+ km races, except the ones who never were 23?

He is not saying that Boasson Hagen is limited now because he didn't ride 200+ km races when he was young.
What he is implying is that Boasson Hagen is (and always was) limited in races over 200k, what never showed in his u23 years, giving the wrong impression that he was going to be the next big thing in cycling.
But the giro stages seem to indicate otherwise.

Who would you say have improved more than expected at Sky?

Look at the guys who were talented youngsters when they signed: Henao, Uran, Löfkvist, EBH, Swift, Puccio, Appo...None of those guys have improved more than expected, some significantly less.

So I see no reason to think that Boom would improve significantly if he signed for Sky.

Sven Kramer, on the other hand, would become a GT winner at Sky ;)

puvvio and appolonio were no toptalents either, far from it and uran was alreayd great at unibet and caisse and still improved in sky. henao was already a world class rider before going to sky, see utah and he still improved a lot. look at his itt. it's unfortunate he is sick now. but he can definitely win a gt in the future
