I am still somewhat surprised. I think he is a good and reliable guy that you can throw into any race and he'll do his best. Granted I did not follow his season this year and he says it was his worst since he turned professional. I hope he finds another pro team, though I doubt it. Maybe Lampre will pick him up, since they couldn't get Machado? Or Europcar, if they get the WT license and need some more riders.

I hope Saxo will renew with: Zaugg, Tosatto, Nicki, Paulinho & Kump. I don't really care that much with the rest.

Now there's a guy who has done nothing in two years. Disappeared right off of the face of the earth again after Il Lombardia. Nowhere near a top climber, unless I missed something (which could very well be) this year

He put in a good shift for Roche during the Vuelta. Admittedly that's not much by the standards of monument winners, but its not as if he did much by the standards of monument winners before he won Lombardia either. Presumably he's on the wage of a guy who can be expect to put in a solid day's work as a domestique rather than that of a guy who is expected to add more classics to his palmares.

He used to be a good climber though. Back with Gerolsteiner he got top-10 GC in Vuelta and Giro IINM, plus top-10 on Angliru stage. Granted, "it was a different time" and now he is a domestique. But I have never seen him do significant work on a GT mountain stage, and that's mainly what I'd expect of him.

/edit: One thing I remember though was last year in the Giro, he was the lone survivor of the breakaway on an epic mountain stage (forgot which one though). He finally got reeled in though

How long does that take to heal? Gesink broke his femur in three places and was back winning the Tour of California in 6 months.

Not sure - Andy started racing again at the Tour of Beijing, so approximately 4 months after the crash in the Dauphiné, however later he stated that it was too early and that it actually threw him back in the healing process. I think the first race he did pain-free was Tour Down Under, but I don't know how long he had been able to train before that (he said in some interviews that for a long time he could not do more than 3 hours without pain). So that would be around 7 months before a pain-free return to racing. Beijing probably threw him back, plus he did 2 stages in the Dauphiné after he'd already broken his femur, the wuss

Betancur has extended with AG2R according to cyclingfever - good for them! Did he only have a one-year contract or did he extend his existing contract early?

It's sad to see Bruno Pires leave Saxo. I think he was a solid domestique (specially at Vuelta 12) but this year he seemed to have troubles with injuries and everything. I hope he can stay out of Portugal, maybe at Professional level somewhere in Italy or Spain. He could be a decent domestique to Rui Costa at Lampre too, we'll see...

Schleck didn't break his femur. You can't race with a broken femur. Tjallingii did it for 40 k in last year's Tour, but that's about it.

It was the stelvio stage and yes he was impressive on the mortirolo but it didn't pay out.

Brammeier back to An Post apparently. That dude has no luck with teams. Champion Systems going under very late in the worst transfer period in recent years in terms of team deaths, means its a step back to Conti level for him. Good signing for an Post though, assuming the rumour is true.

I suspect, given the flood of out of work riders and given that there's been no other announcement, that Sam Bennett will be staying another year. It's a pity if he can't get a shot on a bigger team.

Does anyone have any info about Navardauskas?

Procyclingstats lists him at Garmin for 2014, but CQ claims his contract is not decided, yet.

I hope he stays at Garmin, but I wouldn't be surprised if other team comes with better offer.

Any diehard Americans out there? Do I have this right: Bissel and Brontager are both folding, but a new U23 team is forming, which will also be called Bissel??

Also, can anyone please explain the October 20th deadline to me. Is it a deadline only for the WT only or for the entire peleton in that every team needs to submit a team roster or just the WT teams? There are still lots of open spaces on some teams but also more guys w/out contracts than spaces available so...

It's the same Bontrager team, their not folding. Bissel is just stepping up to become their title sponsor instead of Bontrager. And as a result the continental team Bissel currently sponsors is folding.
