But I'm pretty certain that EBH won't sign for Tinkoff though, somehow most norwegians have gotten the idea that he shouldn't ride for a team whose leader has been involved in doping. Even the leader of the Norwegian national team has tried to stop EBH from signing with them due to their doping history.

Which is quite funny, as no one reacted at all when Hushovd joined BMC or Kristoff joined Katjusja...

Btw. it would be nice if Vaughters can finally shed some light on 2015. The only confirmed thing is that the team will change name for 2015. But not a single official confirmation about who will be riding for that team, apart from riders who were known to be on long-term deals with Garmin before 2014. And even this is not sure, maybe they'll find a way out of some contracts due to the sponsorship change or Canondale merge.

There were 8 riders from Canondale linked to a new team, but George Bennett was not one of them. If any merge between these two teams is going to happen, I hope he makes it to the final roster. He would be a great asset for American races. And I believe velonews mistakenly wrote about Bennett to Garmin as a done deal for 2014 a year ago.

Problem is that there isn't going to be competition for the WT spots. As far as I understand, only the Alonso team (of non-WT teams) is interested in getting a WT status. Cannondale will merger with Garmin, so the spot is open.

The only other team I think might want WT status would be Cofidis, but I really, really doubt that.

So who is Alonso going to sign?

Perhaps Betancur, Frank Schleck, Konig, EBH, Moriabito, Steegmans and Bajkovic would not be a bad start to a team. Of course need a lot more than that and they probably are all not going to end up there but if the team is happening then they should be after riders like this who seem to be available. Some of those without contract after Garmin and Cannondale as well. And there are surely some okay Spanish riders available, perhaps riders leaving Movistar.

Yeah he said there was confusion last year, the press already announced that he had signed for Garmin when he hadn't, so agents were surprised when they found out he was still available.

He might have a hard time finding a new team though, as much as I like him he performs quite inconsitently and has a lot of problems with injury and illness

I honestly can't see Valverde riding for any other team than Unzué's. I am pretty sure they will work out a new contract soon enough, but time will tell.
