Gran Fondo "talent" Stefano Cecchini (age 38), son of you-know-who, is apparently in talk with a WT team after he clocks a time just short of Nibali's at Passso Giau,

Tell me if I am wrong to post in this forum instead of the clinic.

UK article about mini-Luigi's chances of going pro:

ok, I'll be the first. What's up with his power for the linked segments?

Seeing as he's not using a power meter it's a Strava guesstimation so it all depends on what he's entered as his weight and the weight of his equipment, yeah it looks odd but not knowing what he's done with that information we can't work out what's going on with the low power guesstimation. I also noticed that he's using the Strava iPhone app which can give false speeds so I wonder if he's going up these climbs at the speeds claimed.

Rebellin to leave CCC Sprandi Polkowice for Kuwait continental team. Stefan Schumacher also signed for the same team

"Stefan Schumacher will race for the Spanish-Kuwaiti Continental squad Kuwait-Cartucho.es in 2017, the team has announced. It was rumoured earlier this week that the German would join alongside former teammate Davide Rebellin."

Surprisingly Amets Txurruka is without a contract for 2017. He was a key element in the Chaves 2nd place at the Giro, in my opinion one of the highlights of the season was the Agnello climb when Plaza and him destroyed a +100 peloton in 100 meters.

According to Copeland he was one of the names Bahrain looked at but he signed for Caja-Rural already. Haven't heard anything since though..

other four signed riders are: Axel Costa (Massi-Kuwait), Andreas Keusser (Massi-Kuwait), Jose Manuel Gutierrez (Rias Baixas) and Fernando Grijalba (MMR-Inteja).

There is a big difference going up a climb quickly, but doing it after you've ridden 150 to 200 kms beforehand, is a different story.

Strava data is a fantastic resource for amateurs, but not so for pro riders.

Caja Rural finalised the roster some weeks ago, there is no space for him with them.

One rider who will not be on the team in 2017 is Amets Txurruka. He rode for the team for three seasons before spending 2016 with Orica BikeExchange. There had been speculation that the rider could be on his way back to the Caja Rural but this was ruled out on Saturday when the squad was contacted by Cyclingnews.

Also surprising that Paul Voss hasn't found a team yet.

Yes and usually the egos of the top guys are at Riccò level. :D
Many of those races have brutal routes and the level of the top guys is crazy high, but rest of the discussion a should probably take part in the clinic.

Franco Pellizotti to Bahrain-Merida. Hell, the team looks even more like an old people's home than Trek the last couple of seasons.

http://www.direttaciclismo.it/news/ciclomercato-2017/bahrain-merida--con-franco-pellizotti-e-chiuso-l-organico-18969.php#.WEkwWIWcGM8

“He was third overall in the 2009 Giro and he won the polka dot jersey in Paris as the best climber of the Tour de France in 2009,” the Bahrain-Merida team announced in a press release.

Not shady at all.
