32-year-old Sébastien Turgot will race with the amateur French team l'US Saint-Herblain in 2017 after three seasons with AG2R La Mondiale, DirectVelo reported today.
Turgot was the runner-up in the 2012 Paris-Roubaix, and was eighth in the Tour of Flanders, but has since not been able to improve upon his promise in the Classics.

Not a good off-season for the UK domestic scene, as NFTO look like folding after sponsor withdrawal. Pedal Heaven have gone, but mostly resurfaced as a new team with added Chris Opie, Bike Channel-Canyon
Regarding ONE. Dion Smith is far too good to be riding Conti level. And Tom Stewart has now possibly taken a step backwards after leaving Madison Genesis.

Raleigh also rumored to have reduced funding and consequently offering lower salaries.
What has been evident in recent years within the UK Conti scene is the introduction of monied-individuals or those with access to money, eg. Mansell (UK Youth), Wood (NFTO), Prior (ONE). These individuals have tried to build very competitive teams quickly, by pulling riders from established teams by offering significantly higher salaries. This has made it difficult for some teams to compete without increasing their own pay rates, and when this has not been possible may have encouraged established owners like Phil Griffith (Yellow Ltd) to leave the sport. We now see riders, who are essentially bottle carriers earning significantly more than team leaders and race winners from a few years back and at least one team leader who has never ridden above Conti level and whose season is predominantly town centre crits and non UCI road races earning more than some WT and PC guys who are riding the Classics, Grand Tours and the Worlds. It seems inevitable that when these hobby owners decide to indulge their passions elsewhere, that the increased costs for a replacement sponsor may prove prohibitive, given the potential benefit and perhaps it is no surprise that things are difficult .
