Another cyclist for the pave that has not yet been spoken is Dylan van Baarle, who is on the Cannondale-Drapac Pro Cycling Team, has no contract for 2018 and made an excellent spring, 8 on Dwars Door Vlaanderen / A travers la Flandre, 9 on Record Bank E3 Harelbeke, 4 in Ronde van Vlaanderen / Tour des Flandres and 20 in Paris-Roubaix (same time as the 6th)

He will most certainly attract market interest, nominating a likely new home however may be tricky as the obvious Dutch/Belgian teams may not necessarily have vacancies or will have rivals who would not exactly be "rolling out the welcome mat" to new internal competition. Will be very interested to see where he ends up.

I think it may end in Quick-Step or with Lefever ... Boonem's place, I'm not comparing with Boonem, but it has a future .... I thought Neasen was going there, but it's renewed, so I do not know!

And Julien Vermote (AG2R) and Matteo Trentin (FDJ) are for me 2 almost certain exits, plus 2 men from the pavé ... Already have at least 3 spaces to occupy!

Hhhmm, yes, a fair point re the Boonen 'opening' at QST but they still have two "top level" sprinters in Kittel and Gaviria who may not be thrilled about him. On the cobbles side of things, I will grant the picture looks better with their best men being on the wrong side of 30 although Vermote is actually at QST not AG2R.

The 2 French teams ... plausible

Trentin is given almost as much in the FDJ and Vermote was associated with AG2R to be one of Neason's squires, even though the QST continues I think Vermote passes to AG2R ... I was not surprised to see Dylan van Baarle or Moscon or Bettiol (Order of preference), there to work for Stybar

If the QST budget goes down, they will have to choose between Gaviria and Kittel .... Gaviria is the choice, I think, younger, more "cheap" and with great potential, and there Kittel goes to Katusha and Kristoff to Astana

Reckon Kittel won't be at Etix in 2018 as he will be squeezed out by Gaviria. Think a team like Etix can have 2 big sprinters but may not be the case.

Yes, I think kittel is not in QST .... He no longer had a contract and Kastusha is offering a lot! And gaviria has already proved that he can win in GT

If Kittel continues to be the new Pettachi again he's no. 1 sprinter on any team he signs for.

Alpecin is a logical choice of course. Kristoff probably leaves, they've got a sprint train already and Kittel is the ideal poster boy for their shampoo!

why does Trentin leave QST? better money at FDJ?

he should have some more space with Boonen retired...

I read some stories that the relationship with the "direction" of the team is not very good and that the FDJ gave him the conditions to lead some races, if you think about QST, Trentin is always working ... and of course he should have more money
Probably in the Giro has the opportunity to be the sprinter with Cimolai and Guarnieri to be the launchers, I do not know ...

So that's why he did BotD on Wednesday and again today.

According to La Derniere Heure Roelandts and Devenyns will sign for BMC and Theuns will replace Trek for Lotto Soudal.

Mikkel Nieve off to OBE according to Gazetta

Hmm... interesting. Is he just told by Sky that his contract will not be renewed, or would this just be his last walk smiling to bank? I don't see him having any other role than similar mountain dom in Orica compared to Sky.

he's not going to be a mountain domestique for anyone but Froome or Quintana.

He can win any mountain stage in any GT

What team would hire him as a leader? He is an unreliable fringe GC man at best. A great climber on his day but unable to produce leadership form through a GT. Some team might hire him to stagehunt, but that probably means a smaller budget team without leaders who can command support and thus probably lower pay. Chances are he's going somewhere else as a domestique, albeit a domestique with more frequent freedom to stagehunt than he will get at Sky.

I'd prefer him to go somewhere where he would have the kind of role Rolland has this year at Cannondale, but I think it's unlikely.

That's the problem with the stupid World Tour. Mike Snow should be riding for someone like the silverfox and win the Kom jersey at the Giro over and over again.

From today's L’Équipe

Geoffrey Soupe to FDJ.
Clément Venturini to AG2R-La Mondiale.

Yet another addition to the FDJ sprint train? They really believe in Demare!

I don't get why Cofidis would let Venturini go, their other hilly riders just can't seem to win a lot.

Venturini is free to choose to go to a WT team, who maybe can also pay him better.

Landa is most likely gone. Thomas won't win the Giro anyway. Poels ain't strong enough over 3 weeks most likely. Bernal potentially might end up like 2014 Aru at next year's Giro!

What's a bit weird is that his Italian agent seems to secure only contracts with Sky or Movistar primarily. Enlightening that Aru actually fired him in that case.
