well, that's not quite what Sunderland said at the beginning of the season though

“We are in a contract year and we have to get results,” Southerland said regarding the team’s final year of the five-year deal with naming sponsor Novo Nordisk, a multinational pharmaceutical company specializing in diabetes management. “The priority is not on putting riders in the break and being in the top 10, we need visible results this year.”

Sure, in the end they still got a new contract with the sponsor - but it came with significantly less money, so the team won't be able to run a calendar similar as in past years anymore, and their best riders have chosen to retire instead.

If their sponsor has decided they want results, they are screwed and the sponsor is on the way out. There simply isn't a big enough pool of type 1 diabetics to draw from and there's nothing they can do to change that other than hope for an outlier talent to drop in their laps.

After returning from suspension, Chris Froome will announce he was recently diagnosed as a life long type 1 diabetic and find a spot at PC level.

He signed for Education First-Drapac (new cannondale), signing was confirmed on 21/12

Tadej Pogacar signed with UAE for 2018 and 2019, he stays at CT level this year however.

A year ago there was a big argument here about whether surprise at him getting a WT contract after a couple of unremarkable years at PCT level reflected anglophone chauvinism. I remember arguing that the current Brajkovic would make a perfectly decent leader of a Conti team...

James Mitri has been living abroad in Deia (Mallorca) for the past year! Deià is home to a few ex professionals riders like : Vicente Reynes and Linus Gerderman for example.

Vicente Reynes is the mentor and coach of Mitri. When Reyes was with IAM; Mitri attended some training camps and his talent were spotted there...

James is a climber who however can be versatile and maintain position in the flatter races as well. 1.77cm - 58kg...

Last year he had a good season Winning GC at Vuelta Pamplona (second on the hill-top finish ) 8th in Bizkaiko Itzulia and 5th in Tour of Scotland for example... He also been in the top-20 on GC in junior Tour of Wales in the past!!!

He will make his debut in Murcia!
