All of the chicken little speculation about Aqua Blue Sport buying Verandas Willems is premature. For one, its not a done deal (yet), but even if/when it is, the bike Wout rides is a non issue. The Stevens he rides now is out of a factory that can put any sticker on bikes, and guess who else gets bikes made there. For now his team is somewhat irrelevant because his focus is still CX. If this deal does happen, he is assured of getting paid which was looking less certain for a bit there. For 2020, he will have options, lots of options.

Random theory regarding the Greipel-to-Fortuneo transfer.

Could it be that they haven't so much signed him to be a sprinter, but to be a classics man? He's proven both ability to race those race (7th in last year's P-R) and willingness to attack (which also helps with getting a result, if you time your attack), and if he's figured that he's lost a bit of his speech he might have decided to try something "new" in his "old" days.
Having Greipel on the team might also help them get Wild Cards.

I think it is mostly to pick up some wins for them in races on the french calendar for most part and also making sure they will get a invite for next years Tour with Greipel and Barguil both on the team.

If he wanted to focus on classic races then going to Fortuneo would probably be a pretty bad decision. He would have had better luck signing for Wanty or Roompot or another WT team that is automatically racing if that was the case. Because I think there are many teams getting an invite to those sort of races before Fortuneo.

Dylan Teuns to Bahrain Merida for two years...the team wants to develop his GC capacitie says Copeland
When was the last time Copeland developed somebody's gc capabilities?
Probably Meintjes, he was his guy and he followed Copeland to Lampre.

So far it does not look good for the ex-BMC team in 2019 (and yes, I know that today is 2 August).

Out:
Porte, Dennis, Teuns, Caruso, Bettiol, Wyss, (Kung?), (TvG?), (Frankiny?).

Stay:
GvA, Schar, van Hooydonck.

In:
van Keirsbulck (+ several current CCC guys, mainly prospects for the future).

Would be sad and disappointing if finally it ends with "GvA and 20+ other random guys" squad - especially given that it will be difficult not to compare them with the current (and former) BMC squad in terms of riders quality.

TvG has been linked to Slipstream, however he has stated he is in talks with several teams. From what he said staying is much less likely than going to a new team, although I think he'd be better off with a new team.

Danilo Wys from BMC Racing is set to join the team, and comes across with BMC bikes that will replace Cervelo as the team's supplier as of next year. team: Dimension Data

already before the merger was finalized it was said that CCC wouldn't be willing to invest loads of money, so it was always going to be a low budget WT team. Maybe they will be able to convince one or the other decent rider to sign for minimum wage, but I doubt we'll see many more big names

It was all in the timing. Most would have stayed if the sponsor situation was ironed out earlier. I don't think Porte would have left or Dennis. Not the way they were talking a few months earlier anyway.

I get the impression that the money isn’t there to pay the likes of Porte and probably not Dennis either.

Valgren has been confirmed for Dimension Data. Nice signing for them, but I'm not so sure about Valgren's decision to go there.
I think its smart since he can do whatever he wants in the Tour de France. He has the potential to be a very good stagehunter, I think. He will lead the classics, but wont have the numbers like this year obviously

1. They are building a team around GVA ..so no GC riders I believe...but will need to sign at least one very good rouler

2. Since Porte earned millions per annum there is no way they can afford him ... I expect though they wanted to hold on to Tuens & Dennis
