Mexican Luis Villalobos Hernandez from Aevolo to EF

Talented guy, but must really hate his life to join that team.

Supposedly he also had a Jumbo offer or at least they had recently shown interest in him. Maybe not a wise decision to choose EF instead, although he will have more freedom for sure.

According to Jumbo DS they followed him but didn’t make him an offer. But let’s be real, what rider skyrocketed once he joined Vaughters? Maybe Martinez will, but I think he is not signed for next season yet.

Bettiol, van Baarle and Formolo have come through the ranks quite nicely at Slipstream in the past few years.

There were big expectations about Formolo and I think around 2014 people expected him to develop into an even better than he actually has.

But Bettiol exceeded any expectations with his 2016/2017 performances as he had never been among the most hyped riders before and Van Baarle was the best cobbled-classics rider of his age as long as he was riding for Slipstream. Woods also did well to develop into a top10 GT finisher and a monument podium finisher considering from where he started. Also older riders like Uran and Langeveld both have achieved probably their career top results last year despite riding for other WT teams for years before and there were some lesser riders picked up from small teams like Jack Bauer for whom turning out to be able to establish long and decent WT careers was probably already beyond expectations some would have for them when they were joining Vaughters.

The last 3-4 years might be lacking in a true breakthrough in a sense that a young rider has developed into a true contender for the biggest races but I guess it was not easy to hunt and attract the best talent with all the sponsorship instability that happened in the team in recent years. As Vaughters said earlier this year:
Vaughters added: "This is the start of a process where, for the first time since 2012, I've been able to start building a team not chasing a sponsorship one year to the next.

So, how long until Oscar Rodriguez signs with Movistar? :D

Maybe one more year? I say give him a 2nd year at the Pro Conti level. I'm sure they have scouts scouting all 3 Spanish Pro Conti teams. Plus Rodriuez was with Lizarte before going to this team so they know who he is.

Cofidis probably signs him immediately after yesterday's stage win. Which means Rodriguez gets team leadership for the Vuelta a Espana there, to hunt stages and the polka dot jersey.

Neither Euskadi nor Movistar can cope with that mix of paycheck and opportunities IMHO!

Marc Hirschi and Casper Pedersen sign with Sunweb
Sunweb seems to have taken the hiring strategy of bringing Dumoulin to the foot of the last mountain and then let him TT to the finish

Hmm... just out of curiosity - and being totally Dane-obsessed - but does this count as a neo-pro contract for Pedersen? He was half-way through his neo-pro contract with Aqua Blue...

Good question.

Not a surprise that he got signed quickly. He’s already a WT level domestique as a rouleur and is young.

But its clearly you who are trolling. Especially since we all know why Kangert has fallen in your esteem.

Just because Bjarne Riis has been telling you that every single Astana rider is the worst, most illoyal cyclist imaginable throughout three weeks, it doesn't make it true.

He has fallen because of the way he rides - and I was not aware Riis had an opinion on it.

The rest is just you people, fantasising to make it about something entirely else - which is kind of sad :D

I’m a bit disappointed by Dunbar to Sky, where he is just the newest of a batch of obvious future stars rather than the clear big prospect as he would be at 90% of teams, but it’s great that he is not missing the rest of the season.

It was in retrospect a bit odd that Aquablue managed to sign him and Pedersen. All other European espoirs of their level went to a handful of big WT teams. It was a bit of a coup for Aquablue to land them. Sky and Sunweb were probably the sort of teams they were expected to go to in the first place.

Now that the lowest hanging fruit has been plucked, im hoping that the likes of Warbasse, Dunne, Denifl, Archbold, Norman Hansen etc find teams quickly

Sky had no leader in a lot of hilly races this season. Tour of Yorkshire, Deutschland Tour, Tour of Norway. I think he could fill a decent gap.

He also signed 1 year contract only
