Yep. AC should also be happy if the long TTT ( around 60k) will be confirmed.
With a team like Garmin,he's got a good chance to put time into the Shack even on this stage,let alone the rumoured 4 mountaintop finishes in the Pyrenees.

With four mountain top finishes in the Pyrenees,are we to assume there will be one speed bump finish in the Alps?

Well,it was rumoured that LA made lobby for the long TTT,as he hoped to distance Contador on that stage.
And i'm pretty sure ASO will take it into consideration and kill the Tour from the very first week.

Yes,the Alps should be the neutral mountains next year. As Prudhomme said,from 2010 on,one of the two mountain ranges will be neutralised each year.
Anyway,having 4 pyreneean mountaintop finishes in a row looks promising,even if i'm afraid that most of the contenders will be lying a few minutes down on AC or LA when that time comes.

Hang on, if it is the team policy to live in Girona, then how the hell does Tyler Farrar still live in Belgium? He has said plenty of times that he lives not that far away from the Het Volk course. And Brad Wiggans still lives in England AFAIK.

No. Brad Wiggins has a base in Girona as well. Of course he lives in England but only in the off season.

Or he could be honest in that Wiggins is still under contract with Garmin and Ac with Astana until all parties sign the relevant agreements and exchange cash. In other words they have an agreement in principal but nothing has been executed.

I know if I were advising JV I wouldn't sign anything unless I had AC's release and signature on a contract with Garmin in hand. To do otherwise, would put him a significant risk that another 3rd party swoops in to offer a richer deal to AC and the Kazakhs.

The fact of the matter is there are really only three guys (Contador, Andy Schleck, and maybe Armstrong) with even a chance at the Tour next year and if you don't have one of them you don't stand much chance unless they eliminate all mountains from the Tour (wouldn't put it past them to do it).

Out of that list, there are only two. Armstrong is a washed up has-been.

I can't see old Shackmen distancing those boys, however long Prudhomme wants to make it.
Really not sure about the mountain rumours, as a couple of Alpine peaks are also kicking around the mill.

Anyhow, Skil have withdrawn their application for a PT spot, leaving 7 teams chasing 7 bits of paper.
Convenient, as without Wiggins and a couple of other "names", I would be disinclined to offer one up to the current Sky squad.

Neither is factually incorrect so long as there is no ink on the paper and all the details are worked out. As far as I know, he has not been quoted as saying "We are not pursuing Alberto Contador." It sounds like Astana are the fly in the ointment right now, and Contador should hope that he is released. He showed this year that he can win without a team backing him, but next year Schlecklet will not be so easy to beat me thinks.

Yea, you add AC to that squad, and The Uniballer will lose time to them over ANY distance. Hell, he and AC barely beat 6 of them this year. You take away AC, and Armstrong's got bupkis.

Yea, but if Berto is with Astana, Schlecklet may not be that far behind if any over 60K (Spartacus rules) if the rumor of length is correct. Actually, with or without AC (so long as Wiggins stays) Garmin should be the favorite considering The Shack will be strong, but not Alberto strong next year.

2010 te kiezen voor de Pro Continental procedure. De ploeg richt zich op deelname aan verscheidene prestigieuze wedstrijden op de Historische kalender en heeft er verder vertrouwen in deel te kunnen nemen aan verscheidene Pro Tour wedstrijden.

Het team heeft de UCI en de Licentie Commissie deze week meegedeeld de procedure voor een Pro Tour licentie niet te vervolgen. Afgelopen juli was door het team hiertoe een eerste aanzet gegeven, mede vooruitlopend op de vernieuwde wereldkalender vanaf 2011. Het Skil-Shimano team stelt dat het met vertrouwen en belangstelling uitkijkt naar die wereldkalender met Historische en Pro Tour wedstrijden. Echter, het team wil er eerst meer details over kennen voor al in 2010 de benodigde voorwaarden voor een Pro Tour licentie in te vullen.

Can the powers that be risk not having Contador at the TDF next year? Easy solution. pull Astana's license. Vino goes away and AC can ride for whomever he wants.

Can losing the Khazak (sp?) market for cycling really be that bad?
