Funny, I didn't know you wrote for AFP. This was posted on Velonews over a hour ago with an AFP sourcing/byline.

Well that just ended your credibility as a source on AC's future.

I don't. The AFP is a repoting agency. It repoting stories written by others. The VeloNews article came via AFP which repoting it from a newspaper in Belguim.

With this informtion it ends your credibility.

What...do you have some inferiority complex? Are you more credible? NOT!! All the hog has done is show that QS is still in the hunt. Lets wait and see what happens and until you can bring some new "insightful" info put a cork in it!

Slow your roll kid. The Hog posted language from an AFP article (apparently via Belgium paper) and cited himself/herself as a source. Pointing out the actual source isn't evidence of an inferiority complex. It's just pointing out that his or her claim was in fact false.

It seems The Hog has CLARIFIED his or her own post by saying that he or she was passing this along as evidence of the NOISE. Which, as you and everyone else can see, was not stated in the original post.

Here's the original post. Notice the absence of reference that this is NOISE and Hog's claim as source (so you can understand the confusion):

Patrick Lefevere, the general manager of QuickStep, said Tuesday he is in "constant contact" with Alberto Contador, discussing the possibility that the Tour de France winner might ride for the team in 2010.

"For now we are waiting,” Lefevere told the Belgian newspaper Gazet van Antwerpen. “We really have to see if the Union Cycliste Internationale takes any action on the ProTour license of the Astana team. If the team’s license is revoked, there is a good possibility that we can recruit Contador."

"Discussions with Contador are serious,” said Lefevere. “I have had two serious conversations with his manager and I have twice spoken with Contador, most recently last Friday."

"For a rider of that level, any sponsor would be willing to make a big effort," he said. "At this point, I am leaving five openings on the team, just in case I can sign him and leave him spots to bring on riders of his choice, too.”

Source: The Hog.

More intriguing perhaps, from the actual Belgian Newspaper, after mentioning he wants to leave open 5 spots for riders Contador needs/wants ;):

Het eendagswerk blijft ook in de toe- komst belangrijk. Waarom zouden we niet op twee sporen kunnen rijden? Dat deden we dat vroeger met Mapei toch ook?’

Nevertheless, one day classics remain important in the future. Why wouldn't we be able to run a 'two-track' program? Isn't that what we did with Mapei?

But perhaps this should have been posted elsewhere...

I believe in the second paragraph he states "Lefevere told the Belgian newspaper Gazet van Antwerpen"...I don't know how much clearer that can be...but alas...all is good. I would love to see AC with QS!!!! Chilled out here.

Fair enough. Perhaps I read too much into The Hog's usual self-promotion. Indeed, it is all good.

Question for those in the know...is the RB Continental team always so young? Lots of 18 year old kids on there.

Short answer is yes, it's basically the U23 for Rabo (with some exceptions like Bos this year). But this isn't the whole team just the new riders for next year. This year they had a 21 man squad (including cyclocross team) with 9 new talents signed that leaves 12 places from the current team.

That may be the case but surely he knows how this looks. Mind you he is a quality wind-up merchant:D

He doesn't have much choice. Sky have been the sponsors of the GB national team on both road and track for a few years now. It is completely separate from Team Sky. It would be more odd were he not wearing a jersey with Sky on it!

He's wearing the Sky kit which happens to be the British strip for the Worlds. Do we need to spell everything out? If it helps his y-fronts have a Union Jack on them.

I see. Don't exactly follow the British team for Worlds...

Still waiting for that official announcement regarding Contador.
