Should we read into the british colours on his bike?

I think his TT bike is finished that way because he's UK TT Champion now.

If that does end up being the Sky kit, though, I like it.

Nah. The Sky kit is already in use by the track team. I like it:

Ok, instead of discussing the aestethic values of team kits, we'll continue with transfer news.

QST signs Nikolas Maes (23, Topsport Vlaanderen)

Frederik Wilmann (25, Joker Bianchi) can almost be confirmed, as mentioned before, as a new hire for Skil.

Luke Roberts (32, Kuota Senges) moves to Milram.

Pierrick Fedrigo (30) will leave BBox if they don't get a PT license. It is rumoured SAX and Caisse are interested.

I am intriqued by Wilmann...in the Skil write-up I have read it says they like his climbing ability...and that they want to build a team around him. Is he really that good? I mean, he is not exactly tearing it up with Joker. Any thoughts on this from those who have seen him race?

I had the same reaction. It's one thing being a decent climber compared to other types of riders in smaller races but it's something diffrent entirely to be a GC rider in the PT.

I think his climbing highlight until now is a 2nd place this year on a stage finishing atop the Ballon d'Alsace, behind cyclo-cross star Niels Albert,in the Tour d'Alsace.

Well, He have done some very nice climbing this year, for example in Tour d'Alsace and a minor french race of which I forgot the name of. He also finished 9. in Tour de l'Avenir two years back and is the son of Norways greatest climber ever, Jostein Wilmann. We in Norway have considered him as a coming climbing star for a while, but as issoisso said, he hasn't ridden many mountainous races.

Although I do agree with your other points, this doesn't mean much at all. Axel Merckx was also the son of one of the best time triallists ever :p

Is Topsport Vlaandaren getting out of cycling? I ask because so many of their riders are leaving (either that, or they are in high demand).

Of course not, I was just pointing out a fact ;)

@craig1985: No, they're not. They've actually signed some promising youngsters. I don't know whether they're in money trouble or not, but I guess their budget might be a little smaller than last year ;)

Marco Bandiera is moving from LAM to KAT

Staff news:

Team Dr Peter Janssen has decided to leave Vacansoleil because he has taken issue with general management practices.

It is rumoured that RAB staff will see some changes, in the sense that Breukink will be promoted to some kind of a management position, so that van Houwelingen, (Dekker, and Maassen) will be permanently in charge of the team.

Giuseppe Martinelli seems to be on the road to get JB's old job, instead of Vino or de Rooij.

Gert-Jan Theunisse is going to work as a 'mental coach' for Milram

Bala...interesting about Janssen...strange reasons...really out of line for a team doc...what does everyone think of this development? Can't be good...

Topsport Vlaanderen serves as one of the teams on top of the youth pyramid in Belgium, they sign talented youth riders ready to turn pro and allow them the time to grow into riders ready for the pro-tour. In this capacity they have been the first pro team for boys like devolder, wynants, hovelynck , vandewalle (quickstep), vanendert, dehaes, stubbe, hoste (silence-lotto), willems (liquigas), sijmens (cofidis) and pauwels (sky)

this year they also have a talented batch leaving with bakelants (23, silence lotto), Hermans (23, Radio Shack), Maes (23, Quickstep) and Goddaert (22, AG2R), curious to see what these boys are gonna do!

Garmin's Will Frischkorn at the age of 28 has retired from professional cycling. He didn't give his reasons, but he has said he will still be involved with the team with working with their sponsor's and maybe one day be a DS.
