the guardian are reporting that team sky are putting off revealing their lineup while they try and sign wiggins..

im actually getting bored with it now..

Its reported in Italy that Team Sky are signing Dario Cioni. Not seen much of him but he is listed as a strong time trialler and climber.

The Team Sky twitter page is saying that announcements will be made today. I'm not sure I personally believe The Guardian piece seems extremely speculative and based around the Evans-Garmin Wiggins-Sky story of last week which we no was false.

I was of the opinion that the guy who updates the Teamskynews page was either an employee of Team Sky or British Cycling. Perhaps not.

It does appear to be rather stupid that they would announce on Wednesday day that the final names will be made public friday only for on friday for them to delay it. All seems rather unproffesional to me.

think its a little boy in his bedroom googling to be honest..

why would they tweet at 8am, announcment today, and then couple of hours later say delayed and tweet the guardian link... im sure skys tweeter would know what was going on...

they tweeted dave brailfsords twitter (he has no tweets or its the wrong page), they have got several rider tweet pages wrong..

and then mostly just report what goes on on cn, etc...

its a little boy in his bedroom.. nothing more.. imo

Could very well be right.

I personally just want them to announce their riders and get on with readying themselves for a big season. A number of teams have already had initial get togethers and alot of riders are already working towards their training plans for the new year.

its getting boring now.. they need to just announce and be done... theyve dragged it out to long.. i know papers need to be signed, but all this promising, not happening lark just goes on and on

It's like pulling teeth.

On the plus side, it must mean they are at least trying to get someone exciting. If it were just Clancy/Hayman/Vigano then they would just have announced it.

He came to road from MTB through the Mapei Developmental team, like Cadel Evans, and was considered a promising rider. His best year for sure was 2004, when he placed 4th overall in the Giro, plus 3rd and 5th in the two Swiss stage races. After that he has failed to live up to his potential (?).

Being 35 next season, he could be a good team rider in stage races, both for TTT and mountain stages.

Doper Patxi Vila returns from his suspension. He's negotiating with Astana, Lampre and Phonak. Or BMC if you prefer to call it that

According to issoisso, Saxo had to re-sign him, well because, they had no other choice.

Nope, they pubclily admitted they weren't happy with him but offered him a renewal anyway since they needed to cheaply fill roster spots. He didn't like that and later refused the renewal.

hes also born in england and i beleive has very good english.. another rider i think sky will be looking to as a mentor to the younger riders and a coaching role in the future.. its fairly obviously looking at the squad so far that they will be picking up young riders each year, with the odd 30 year old, so they have a constant blend of youth and experience..

Isn't Cioni's wife Scottish? I think he tried to race for GB years ago, but the UCI said no. There is an Italian footballer Simone Perotta who was born in England, lived there till he was 18 months old, but that is as English as he gets.

But why would Saxo admit that? No wonder Bochman told them to GAGF. I would too.

Update on Bochman: He says he can quit his contract at any time if a ProTour team makes an offer. He says he's in contact with Garmin.

He'd better pray Garmin don't find out he's not a bad climber. If they find out a rider can do more than time trial, they're sure to lose interest :p

Looks like Rasmussen has been able to weasel out of his CDC contract.

i saw that , what could he possibly have on the horizon that would offer better opportunity....just not seeing it.........

Footon-Servetto or Serramenti Etcetera Etcetera, according to Danish daily Berlingske Tidende.

Both make great sense, thinking of the former team's bleak past and the latter's habit of signing old geezers with *ahem* drug-related problems. Rasmussen would probably fit perfectly in both of these teams in various ways, not just because of the old-geezer-with-drug-related-problems-part, but also because of the teams' focus on climbers.
