The sprinter who isn't fast because he sprints with his behind permanently on the saddle. Weird signing.

Or looking at it the other way...doesn't it make perfect sense to sign someone who is decent (and reasonably inexpensive) - and has an obvious, but correctable flaw.
if they can get him to lift his @rse off the saddle they could have a bargain.

I'm more puzzled by Sky's Grand Tour GC plans, they seem to have a plethora of support guys, but no GC contender other than Lovqvist - and he can't ride all 3 GT can he?

Oh, that's not the reason that I said it's a weird signing :)
It just doesn't seem to fit in with mould of the other signings.

They have Pauwels and Possoni, and given (a long) time Augustyn and Froome might be decent, but yes, they're lacking in the climbing department.

Isn't Wiggins meant to be a SKY rider by now and Contador riding for Garmin for 2010?

*ducks*

Sshh- he's pretending to be the big 'insider', don't ruin it for him - he might actually believe it himself

Let's all repeat together. 'I do believe in september 5th, I do I do'.

He then said after Wiggins' season was over we would see an announcement, well it has been nearly two weeks since the Hearld Sun Tour finished, and still nothing. I guess now it will be whether or not Astana has a PT licence and Contador can leave.

Sky for 2010 so far:

They still need a couple

Xacobeo-Galicia signs Gustavo Rodriguez (30) en Jose Anton De Segovia (27). It lets go Juan Mourón, Alejandro Paleo, Iván Raña, Héctor Espasandín, Pedro Fernández, Iban Mayoz, David Herrero en Eduard Vorganov

Grégory Joseph (21, Jong Vlaanderen) is the 19th rider for Topsport Vlaanderen - Mercator in 2010.

In connection with Rasmussen the following teams are mentioned (rumoured) Acqua e sapone, Contentpolis-AMPO and Andalusia-Cajasur...

Quick Step is still trying to woo Alberto Contador, but if they are not successful, they are looking to sign Jan Kuyckx and possibly four others.
Contador has expressed the most interest in Caisse d’Epargne and if you believe some news sources, he may announce his decision by early next week.
Kazakh Cycling Federation Vice Chairman Nikolaj Proskoerin is still confident that Contador will stay with the team for 2010 and that their license is not in danger. The team is working on sponsors, but their management structure was thrown further into question as Federation Chairman Danial Akhmetov announced that he was resigning for health reasons.
Proskoerin says that they “have absolutely no problem” with Contador and that he’ll remain with the team, but Contador has thus far been mute on the issue.

Maybe I got my hopes up, but I'm sort of expected more from SKY in the way of signings. EBH is obviously a great signing, some decent sprinters, and Flecha, if he can have some luck for once he can maybe win a Classic. He crashed at Roubaix for the last years and was robbed of Ghent Wevelgem in 2005 when Nico Matten got a free ride up to Flecha.

I think Lovkvist is pretty good too...

Floriano Torresi (team manager) has announced that Michael Rasmussen will be the leader of the team CDC-Cavaliere (Centri della Calzatura in 2009)

Daniele Callegarin (Centri della Calzatura) and Bernardo Riccio (Flaminia) also confirmed for the team.

source http://www.biciciclismo.com/cas/site/noticias-ficha.asp?id=18902

Rasmussen says that the story is fake, and that he's negotiating with a another team.

Since when did Liquigas want to sign Contador?? I didn't even know they were interested.

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/valverde-would-welcome-contador-at-caisse

About 1/2 way down, it says this:

CN Article about Contador said:
The double Tour de France winner has had approaches from several teams, including Caisse d&#8217]Liquigas[/b]

What sort of budget does Liquigas have? Surely they wouldn't be able to afford Contador? Especially since they already have Basso, Pellozotti, and i'm guessing Nibali, Kreuzinger and Szmyd will probably want better contracts soon because of their good performances.

EDIT: Used my 'Ride: Official Tour de France Guide' and it says Liquigas have a budget of 6 million Euros. Which isn't much compared to Katusha - 18 million Euros or Astana - 12 million euros or Columbia HTC - 15 million Euros
