I really hope Arvesen stays at Saxo, a move to The Shack would not be good for his career. He should show some ambition and not purely base his next move on money.

Arvesen had already said weeks ago that he had a better offer and the chances of preferring to stay at Saxo Bank are practically nonexistant

You're right. He should forgo the needs of his future & that of his family to please you.

how disappointing , i have always liked both , and thought kurte was happy at saxo.........money , money , money.......like the song

He was, but he's getting old and he has said that since this is likely his last contract so yes money matters. I don't see anything wring with wanting higher pay. Saxo Bank has a tight economy and can't pay him what others are willing to and that's regrettable, but let's keep things in proportion. He's going to ride for team RadioShack not Cannibals incorporated. It’s a new job not a betrayal of everything that's good and holy in the world.

Does anyone think a move to The Shack is good for anyone's career? Lance only cares about one race per year.

Meaning everyone else gets much more freedom in the rest of the races :)

I think people are being a little over dramatic with the shack. They make it sound like your career is over if you sign there.. silly. As much as LA wants to win the tour, I'm positive he will want the shack to succeed also, thus they will want results.

As a Norwegian, my favourite rider is Kurt. I agree that this is his last contract in cycling and he should have his future in mind. But when he retires he should have no problem getting a very well paid job within the cycling-community or the media. I really hope he signs a contract so he can realise his personal ambitions. Sorry if I sounded harsh.

Freddy Bichot joins BBox Bouygues Telecom next year and Addy Engels renews his contract with Quick Step. Next year will mark Engels 6th year at Quick Step, quite a feat for a pro cyclist these days.

That's a real shame: Nibali was having a terrific season, and was one of the real bright lights of the TdF. Definitely someone to watch in the future.

Now,the worst thing that could happen: UCI won't renew Lampre's PT licence for 2010,and Petacchi will realise that he left from one continental team to another.:D And will only be able to do the Giro, just like in 2009.

And that is quite sad for those of us who don't make 800-900k a year :)

It's also reported that Kurt Asle Arvesen is considering offers from Saxo-Bank, The Shack and an Italian team.

funny you should say that, a certain someone at the tour of ireland yesterday strongly hinted that "ONE OR TWO LICENCES WOULDNT BE RENEWED".. to be renewed they have to fill the criteria of performance and or team ethics..

Fuji and Lampre look in gravest danger.

Fuji because the UCI doesn't like them.

Lampre because their performance has been awful and they've had 4 positives in little over a year. That and signing Di Luca and Petacchi can't be good for their reputation of cleanliness (or lack thereof)

Fuji aren't up for renewal are they? They weren't listed among the teams that are seeking renewal so that would indicate they already have a licence ready for 2010.

Of the five teams that are up for renewal I could see all of them being in danger except perhaps AG2R.

fuji are lucky, they really shouldn't have a license anymore (imo).
Lampre seem to be going downhill too, but I think they will get renewal.

I have no idea why Cofidis bother with a PT licence. They will get an invite to all ASO races which are the ones they care about and could probably get a wilcard for the Tour of Switzerland and the Vuelta. You can also include all the other French PT races not owned by ASO , although they might then come unstuck when it comes to riding the Dauphine.

With all due respect, the Tour Down Under or the Tour of Poland have no use for them and I don't think the Tour of California will mean much for them when they become a PT race.
