You're absolutely right! It just seemed like the thread was being hijacked by fanboys, so I responded. I will turn that off, from my end, and limit input to transfer related info.
A similar thing has happened to a thread I originated. I guess it's easy to get sidetracked sometimes. But, Thanks for the reminder.

Harmon Eorosport: Sky are keeping their collective mouths shut, to avoid any bad feeling towards riders who have current commitments...
Read into that what you wish, but its certain to fuel more speculation regarding certain British riders.
Should be announced within a week.

Having said that, he was quite happy to say that Horner was "rumoured" to have joined Pensioners Anonymous.(since folks missed the Team Zimmer joke)

My immediate response to Harmonn's comments were - there's at least one rider in the Vuelta right now, who needs his team.....Cancellara?

Could be Millar and/or Hammond too I suppose.

The second part of that is that he implied that Flecha was not selected for the Vuelta by Rabobank because they knew he was leaving. Harmonn mentioned this specifically in relation to the World Championships (which must have been a brain freeze on his part) but it can only really make sense for forthcoming team races. The big(ish) pro races in the starting in the next fortnight? The Tours of Missouri (7th) & Britain (12th)

It's hard to know who would be affected without guessing who Sky have signed, who will be riding in these events, and which teams would be selfish enough to deny a ride to a departing rider. Ben Swift in particular springs to mind though.

I'm guessing we'll hear from Sky around Monday 14th September then.

idont think millar would give up his shares in garmin...
and i think brad is better at garmin as well for another year, theyve signed a couple of riders and i think the support will be there for him...

looking at skys rumours, i would guess their approach next year is very much similar to cervelho and columbia.. single day races and stage wins..

NOT GC yet..

If it's true that Lövkvist is going to Team Sky then I'm sure he would be interested in taking more stabs at the Giro or Tour, though it wouldn't be with the entire team buildt to back him up for that of course.

Also, Levi...

hang on

...my Radio Shack pager just went off....Looks like Lance is calling a team meeting to set Levi straight and correct his training plan for next year...it's these delusional team members that make things so difficult during the off-season. :D

Man, what did Levi take to make him think he'll be doing anything but riding for Lance at the TDF? Talk about delusional.

In the midst of all these new signings, and the speculation about what teams will make it onto the Pro Tour Team roster. I was just wondering what impact the newly extended agreement between UCI and Shimano will have when Skil-Shimano file their application for Pro Tour status, shortly.
Both Shimano and McQuaid were stroking each other rather vigorously at the announcement, at Interbike. The spots for next years Pro Tour are going to be pretty precious. I think it may be worth watching.

It makes you wonder how much politics are involved in the selections and how much of it is based on actual circumstances like secure economy, team roster and employee work conditions.

Depends on whether Shimano stops sponsoring the team as has been rumoured for a few months now.

i dont think skill will get pro tour next year.. unless two of the french teams dont get renewed..
i still however thing the tour will reduce teams to 8 to get two extra teams in, especially if two french teams lose pt licences..

I tried to return your PM, but it wouldn't allow it. Do you have incoming PM's turned off? Either way, welcome! I hope you enjoy it here.

Cervelo have signed Austrian Stefan Denifl. Denifl won the International Thüringen Rundfahrt this year and finished 8th in the overall classification at the Tour of Austria. The Shack sign young 22 year old Belgian Ben Hermans who is leaving Topsport Vlaanderen to join Team RadioShack. The young Belgian called the transfer “a dream”. The first-year-pro is a gifted climber, but also a good time trialist (make of that what you will).

(Both were taken from here and here)

What does TheHog know that we don't? A month ago he was responding to every Contador post with "just wait until September 5th" or similar.

He's almost there. Couple more days before the ink is dried and deal is reached between the three parties.

MADRID — Two-time Tour de France champion Alberto Contador, under contract with Astana until 2010, has received offers from Garmin, Caisse d'Epargne and Quick Step as well as a proposed contract extension from Astana, a source close to the rider said Saturday.
The proposal from Caisse d'Epargne, which is home to several other Spanish riders including Alejandro Valverde, is the most attractive for Contador, the source told AFP.
