He's almost there. Couple more days before the ink is dried and deal is reached between the three parties.

MADRID — Two-time Tour de France champion Alberto Contador, under contract with Astana until 2010, has received offers from Garmin, Caisse d'Epargne and Quick Step as well as a proposed contract extension from Astana, a source close to the rider said Saturday.
The proposal from Caisse d'Epargne, which is home to several other Spanish riders including Alejandro Valverde, is the most attractive for Contador, the source told AFP.

But we already knew all of this before today.

There's a deal brewing between Astana, Sky and Garmin. Sky will
get Wiggins and help payout Astana for Contador to go to Garmin. All parties have verbally agreed. Now needs ink. Hope it comes off. Murdoch personally is stumping up 500k for Contador to be released so Sky can have Wiggins for nixs. Bravo if it comes off.

as if I would tell Internet land. I can only say what I'm allowed to release.

In saying that this just released to the media about 15 minutes ago:

Wiggins is under contract to Garmin for next year, though a report at the weekend that Alberto Contador, the Tour de France winner, has been made an offer by the American team could change that. If Contador joins Garmin it would affect Wiggins's status, since the British rider would start next year's Tour in a supporting role, rather than as designated leader.

When asked about the prospect of the Spaniard joining, Wiggins said: "That's been on the cards for a while. I'm sure all will be revealed. Ask me that question again in a month's time."

Fair play then. Get ready to be ignored until/if it turns out to be true....which defeats the purpose of "leaking" it :p

Sounds promising. A win for everyone except Astana.

not this season.

Hincapie has stated that he doesn't want to ride the Tour in 2010. His body can't take it. Some classics and racing in the US fits the bill. Wants more time with Melanie, kiddies & work more on the training center & clothing line.

I think for now, since they are relatively young, they won't be competitive at the highest level already.

van Garderen seems to be an Ardennes Classics guy.
