I just stumbled upon this. I will be on the look-out for the opening of registration as the ASO is going to place a limit at 4,000.

So, Flanders cyclo followed by P-R. How cool is that?

I can't wait. Other than Craig1985, any other forum members planning on doing the double?

This is the future, right here. :) Whatever the pros are doing to the sport, the romance of the road will live on.

That said, I'd be too scared to ride it myself. ;)

Very cool.
Did Roubaix this year, and next year am hoping to do either: Flanders and Robuaix, or just Flanders.
Depends on time off from work, ££s and permission slip [to do both].

STI guide was telling of when they used to do this trip as a double and naturally include GW mid-week, making it a triple...

:D

You know, the P-R cyclo is only 135kms. This means I'll be able to drink great beer all week after the RvV.

Can you imagine if it rains on April 9th? 4,000 cyclotourists on wet cobbles...

For today's useless fact, brought to you by krebs303, there are 7 teams by my counting that are no longer in existence. Unless you count Liberty turning into Astana not in operation.

I count 6 in that photo - who's the 7th?

scary - it was interesting enough with just those who were out on the course the day before this year's P-R. I'm sure those folks will add to the drama, or at least be a conflict with the cyclo...

At this stages, all the signs are saying "Yes, let's go". So anybody keen for a meet-up, either pre-ride or after the ride as a Belgium beer testing evening?

I might be up for a post-ride thing (since I'm not riding but I will probably be at the Ronde that weekend depending on circumstances).

Depends where you're all going to be, I guess! I'm not too familiar with the bar circuit in Gent and Brugge but I do know some Brussels haunts with good selections if you're over this way.

And who's going to the traditional final split-stage of the Three Days of De Panne on the Friday? It was lovely and sunny this year and the bars were all open early (probably not good preparation for the Cyclo Ronde, but there you go). :)

definately, but I'm going to be doing it with STI, so not sure how much freedom there will be in the evenings...
but there's always a way

I did this earlier this year, the P-R that is, and if you have time to do it then it is the best CS'tive event like no other. It was huge fun, very wearing and tiring, totally devistated at the end and took 2 days to recover. I've still got grit in my left elbow from a heavy fall and rash burn on my leg still to this day.

I met some amazing people, rode my little heart out, drank Blonde and ete fries till I nearly puked.

I'd do it again for sure bu this year I'm doing the Eroica..

Happy days indeed.

That sounds great Craig. I don't think I can ride but I will try to be there to test the beer.

I am going to RvV how many places are there?

I believe it's unlimited. There were more than 20,000 participants last year.

roubaix

yep me and 6 pals are in for roubaix. did the full flanders this year which was epic. can't do the double this year but might next or if liege/b/liege do one then you can get amstel then lbl - :D

shame that registration is on friday as it means you HAVE to stay near st.quentin and the range of hotels isn't great. also you face a nr 2hr journey back from roubaix when you're knackered.

not great thinking by the ASO there.

+1

Not to mention that most hotels in Saint Quentin are already sold out.

2 weeks in april

that first 80km from brugge out to oostende and round was brutal. worst part for me.

re hotels in st.quentin managed to get in a cheap and cheerful place for not too much money.
