Tyler's Book

Word is Tyler is writing a book. It will be a tell all about the sport. Riis, Lance, the Hog. Nobody will be spared. Anybody at the TdU want to ask Wonderboy about it at the Press Conference?

I am glad to see that Tyler is doing this. I think it will be very helpful for him personally to get this off his chest.

As soon as it comes out we need to start the Fabiani drinking game. Every time he says "Witch Hunt" Old News" or "Bitter" take a shot. Double shot for "Done a lot of good"

Not to say it wouldn't be a fun and interesting read, but where do you differentiate between fact and fantasy with the "Born twin."

I'd love to see him come clean Floyd-Landis-style, before he actually starts writing.

Not gonna happen, probably needs to sell a lot of books so wont give interviews till the launch to maximize sales.

Looking forward to it. :)

Interesting. Does Tyler think the truth will be revealed anyway, and so he'd rather profit a bit from it by revealing his part on his own terms? Or do you think it's something he'd have done eventually even without the whole Landis situation?

Agree RR. I never met him, but know people who do and I got the strong impression this was a long time coming. I also agree this will have to be a huge weight off his chest as you say.

As several of us discussed, it was almost a question of who would speak first, Floyd or Tyler, as both seemed to have a sense of morals at their inner core, deep inside.

It will be interesting to see when this gets written, how it's edited, and when it's published. If it takes him another year - and it might - he will escape the statute of limitations on his Olympic medal. He may however feel like Floyd he wants to get the facts out before the statute is up. Then again, the guy he'd be handing his gold medal too would be Eki, who was on the same program at USPS, so...

I'd imagine this news is tough to respond to for the Armstrong Camp - in the old days, they would probably do whatever they could to prevent the book from seeing the light of day. However, in this new day and age, it might be a whole lot of wasted resources since most of the juicy stuff will be know already - not the specific stories and details but the big revalations (LA and I transfused blood and used EPO during the TDF!).

I guess it depends on how soon he gets the book out. How many confessed ex-teammates are we up to? Two on record w/ names (Floyd, Frankie) , one on record without name (other NYT's confessor) Add Tyler you have 3 on recor with name without even having to be supenaed!

Truth is, (Tyler I hope you're reading this) if there's enough good "inside", juicy or funny stories, I'll even but the damn book myself.

I wondered this exact same thought. What is the statute of limitations on an olympic medal? Is there an established number of years where the IOC says we wiell not mess with the results no matter what?

An insider's view on CSC's team-doping program would be nice, and would be more consequential for cycling than Tyler's perspectives on LA (which will reach us via Floyd and Novitzky anyway).
If he reveals that Riis implanted team-doping, cycling can count its blessings. A clean cycling-cycle might be upon us.

I don't think we'll be so lucky. Jaksche didn't have much to say about CSC.

I still think there is an incredible movie to be made about all this, perhaps drawing on information in Tyler's new book as well as Floyd's story, that clearly conveys the incredible pressure to dope within cycling. I suppose the story could be told about any Olympic sport, or any sport for that matter, but for some reason the cycling story seems like it would be more compelling and dramatic.

One way to do it, of course, is about Armstrong. Can you imagine a movie showing both his public persona, as well as the private-world scenes... the self-righteous indignation conveyed at a press conference, followed by a doping session in the bus or hotel room minutes later?

Wow, that didn't take long. The "he's a liar" mantra.

"I like our word, I like our credibility".

It all sounds familiar.

Agreed.

Riis is aware of the book.....don't think Wonderboy knew about it until now. Someone really should ask him about it.

So Frankie and Jonathon and others have NOT written books because they lack th "sense of morals" that are bestowed upon Floyd and Tyler?

OMG, you guys crack me up.

Should be a great book, however.

It seems to me that if Hamilton wants to make a few bucks off of this then the time to publish is relatively short. The quicker he can get it out the better.

I have always thought that the best defense for being scapegoated in cycling would be an unapologetic honesty. These guys should be saying, "Yeah, I doped. So what? So did everybody else." It is amazing how many of these guys have allowed themselves to be portrayed by the UCI and their former teams as the bad guy.

I don't think it will be a great book.. It will just be another book to add to the list.. Exposure but nothing will get done, as its once again "his word against mine" .. no proof, no evidence.. blah, blah, blah.. a bit more cash in the Hamilton bank and that's about it..
