+1 this really stood out to me too.

Like a scorpion ringing up a frog and saying, "Can I have just one more ride across the river? Please? Can I? Can I?"

Repulsive. LA's lawyers are not only dodgy and incompetent, but they're damn ugly too.

Would make for a good conflict of interest question on a bar exam.

Intuitively the offer repulsed me - but you raise an even more telling point.

One LA's lawyers should definitely be aware of, given Herman et al managed to get the SCA arbitrator dismissed from the panel due to this very same conflict of interest.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Could anyone smuggle a proper copy into the country, please?

And why on earth do they call it a Lance Armstrong book? I thought it was about Tyler Hamilton :)

EDIT:
Ah, after reading the article it seems changes will just be of the usual "Lance Armstrong has always denied all doping allegations against him" type... There's probably going to be a few extra "alleged" in there as well...

I already pre-ordered it from Amazon US. Can't wait two weeks.

lol.. I don't know about that. I couldn't even spell basically correctly.

Yeah I missed it - it's your "title" up to 5 posts, 6th is junior member, then eventually senior. Apologies if I startled you :D

That was my point - money is not an argument that'll cut it.
2) Fact is none of those confessionals earn their authors a lot of money. The motivation is setting the record straight
I think THIS book will sell :)

If you don't believe he doped more than his peers, then why is his "hardcore doping" your point?
Because he doped again after he got caught.

Not sure I'm getting this - if it's important please explain...
If Hamilton is correct that he doped? (I guess he would know?)
Of course - but why should Riis help him with doping?
Hamilton knew everything about how to dope.

It seems beyond doubt that Riis knew, but yeah - seems - clearly still a good word to use as the book hasn't come out. But if Riis didn't know he's really shooting himself solidly in the foot by not angrily refuting the claims.

I agree.

I like what I thought Riis and his team had done for cycling. Not so sure anymore...

Let's see what will appear in the near future.

Documents seized at Fuentes by the Spanish police during Operación Puerto doesn't leave much room for doubt; Hamilton was on an extensive doping program in 2002/2003, while working for Riis.

http://politiken.dk/sport/ECE162758/csc-stjerne-paa-omfattende-dopingprogram-i-2003/

Since Hamilton came from USPS where Riis would've recognised straightaway what was going on, since he rode with Armstrong before his cancer then saw him comeback and win, he would've known that Hamilton was on the same program in 1999, 2000 and 2001, so hiring him he had to know that he would need a doctor to get the same or better performance from Hamilton.

Should it get its own thread?

Nice avatar/sig tie in, I like it.

Much better than your old Rand one, although still uber-Repub!

Precisely.

Thanks for the head's up. I hope he shows well. He looked very uncomfortable on 60 Minutes, though did fine there.

The avatar was totally prescient. I had no knowledge about his speech when I switched from the Ayn Rand (which probably 95% of the forum could not follow the underlying message). Although I did know about his leanings for years.

I know how the vast majority of my cyclist friends lean and it's not how I lean. I like them as cycling friends and just like to keep ideological discussions away from our love of cycling. I prefer to do the same here. I may post in the election thread from time to time but people take it way too personally. Best to be avoided in this message board afaic.

Sorry for the off topic.

Sometimes discomfort is a sign of honesty. It's the smooth guy that sets my spidey sense off. Just a little too practiced. Most of us are honest and know how nervous we would be having to confess some great sin and also how rehearsed we would be if we had to tell a huge lie. Our ability to empathize allows us to discern the liar from the person telling the truth.

The problem is that he does not refute anything.
Just the usual no- comments-game.

Exactly.
I tried to point out that people read these quotes as religious fanatics read their holy books.

I did - money.
And I don't think that he doped more than any other doping-rider in these days.

If Hamilton is correct about doping when he worked for Riis, I doubt that Riis was unaware of it.
So I do have my reasons.

And I'm sad about that, because I like what Riis and his teams has done for cycling.

In their first meeting Riis bring up the doping program. He talks about how great transfusions are. That he prefered them to EPO, even did 3 of them in the 1996 Tour

There's a queue a mile long outside Barns & Noble waiting for the release of the book. Then again they could be waiting for iPhone 5.

iPhone 4 and the book already downloaded is good enough for me. Available at 12:01!

Are you in the US or Europe? Download appears to be delayed here in the UK. Or is that due to the amendments to avoid Wonderboy suing?

Barnes & Noble had the book on sale today. I got up to Chapter 11 and saw what Race Radio says about Riis singing the praises of transfusions.

When Riis asked Tyler about blood doping with Postal, Tyler said he just used EPO and lied to Riis reflexively for reasons even he didn't understand.

Riis liked the transfusions because they were an immediate boost as opposed to EPO which obviously take time to take effect.

For those who think Lance is a scumbag and nuts the book only further reinforces how crazy and ruthless he is.

...and that is only what Tyler is aware of....there could be entire books written just about the lengths he would go to to eradicate non-compliance from associates, or the associates themselves.
