PCS lists Ewan, Merlier and the other Quickstep guys in G2. Don't think that is correct?!

Some time ago I saw Merlier (Belgian champion kit) in that chasing group (now at 40s). Don't know about Ewan.
seems like both are indeed. Ewan was shown in the cars at the beginning of the coverage, so I assumed he was at the very back

Yes, impressive.
Can he climb good enough to get a good GC, here?
Doubt it. He is almost a direct copy of Pippo Ganna, so a pure watts climb like Jebel Jais should really suit him. However, he is rather heavy right now, still carrying around baby weight. He is very much capable of going the Wiggins route in the future, but right now I would deem it to be an impossible task.

Remco in the rotation, I assume he's softpedalling when at the front... If not, it's a bit strange.
Why is that weird? Because Quickstep is chasing behind them? I think it's weird that Quickstep is chasing G1 when you have Yates in G2. There are enough chances to win a race with Merlier, but taking a big gap in the GC can happen now.

If G1 is able to take enough time, Remco basically has the podium in the bag already.

His team mates are desperately trying to chase at 50s with Merlier. That's why it's strange.
not sure what the wind is like at the moment, but in case of crosswinds, usually all riders stay in the circulation because it's the best way to avoid getting dropped.
