I'll reiterate a point I made in the Evenepoel thread: it's up to the team (staff that is) to get it together and actually demonstrate Red Bull Bora's changes since last summer actually meant something and weren't just a case of musical chairs with exact same outcomes.

You'd think they'd know about the rider already and his qualities/weaknesses, i.e. and not just show up in UAE and go "duh!" when things don't work out.
Your points are totally valid but you left out ego. Remco is carrying around crushing TT skills, great on rollers and shallow stuff, but when it gets steep he gets pooped out, Roglic just sits down and gets to work, and Lipowitz is just going to be better bet, and you get multiple mountain days out of both, Remco really struggles with heavy grades for day after day torture. Today will be in his head for a bit. Today was a super mental boost for top @8 riders. Tiberi, Gee, Del Toro all passed a serious gut check.. Hard men

Bora bought Remco cause he is the best domestic in the world and Lipowitz needs him to have a chance to beat Pogi. Don't overthink this.

Yates sort of popped also

I think Remco needs to go for a beer with Wout and MVP and ask for advice about abandoning the idea of being an elite climber, other guys give up.

He needs to concentrate on classics and build himself for them, not to pretend he is GT GC guy. Just a waste of huge talent there.

Had to watch this stage on a bit of a delay so I stayed away from the thread. With how things happened, I just knew the forum would be a glorious read. And it didn't disappoint.

Or he needs to wake up and give up this TT specialization.
Going in wind tunnels in the USA and going crazy about every mm about his TT position.
Nobody cares.
Focus on building a climber's physique by first losing a couple of kgs of leg muscle.

He is just setting himself up for an emotional rollercoaster.. Yesterday he was crushing, today he got crushed.. All in all Tiberi, Gee, Del Toro had respectable TT performances.. Remco should teach them a lesson at MSR or Flanders, Strade..

Remco could break hour record, win some big 1 day events.. GT wins or hard stage races are not his thing...
He is getting to be like the 50 year old with ponytail and Metallica t-shirt that keeps trying to break into the music business. Remco is probably regretting..

Put on 10 kilograms and get himself down to MSR, Tour of Flanders and Roubaix, and he can even still do his tts which he's the best at. We've had the same psychodrama every time he's been dropped on a climb for years now, time for something different. Last GT win 2022 against an injured Roglic.

I am aware. But you keep him in contention because he is brilliant on Jabeel Hafeet.
I think he is just here to support Del Toro.

Think a similar scenario on that stage. Helpout Del Toro or pace him, and then Del Toro should have good kick towards the end as well. We will see.

Some over dramatisation i feel regarding remco. Reality is, there is not much else to do in the early summer/summer outside the giro/tour. So i don't see he should stop being ambitious in that regard. They might need to re-think the focus if he has another bad tour. lay the emphasis more on things outside GT, instead of the other way around.
For now i do not see why it can't be 1A, and 1B strategy. Unless remco is laser focused on GT's. At which point they might need to fiddle with his muscle mass. Which might indeed be a waste of talent. if he has another bad Tour. They should make the Tour 1B and the rest 1A.

Given Tiberi´s shape , he shouldn't have any problem for GC. Del Toro will probably win the other mountain stage in a sprint, but Tiberi will win the GC if he can hold on.

At least we'll have a nice battle for GC still. I think Del Toro might be able to drop him if UAE starts riding hard, and then he goes.

It used to be Remco Mustafa as the marked man, now it's Tiberi the Cat, whom Isaac the Bull has to guard. Team dynamics between Bahrain and UAE in all sprints would shape up the GC until the last mountain top finish.

Congrats to Tiberi on a win in the first edition of the Arabian Angliru. He's in the pole position for overall victory. However, Del Toro is still in the fight. He didn't feel too good at the start of the wall but found his rhytm and got better towards the end. Not enough to win but he was quite close. Good performance by him as well.

By pacing his effort well? Okay.
I really wonder what part of what Del Toro was doing was pacing his effort well?

He starts too far back, climbs very slow at the beginning, then he makes a big surge to get back to the chase group, then starts flicking his elbow, than makes a big effort to drop his group, and then doesn't take any time back on Tiberi in the final km.

Great job of making an entertaining climb and performance sound so dull/boring.
