With a 6 week break until Les Gets, we have the Euros in 2 weeks time. And looking towards the Worlds at the end of Aug/ early Sept, I've no clue who is going to be in form, who has held their form.

We know Pidcock won't be there, and that's all I can be certain of. I know Loana had targeted the Worlds, after her masterclass in Crans-Montana last year.......but so far her form isn't quite there.

As for MvdP, I just can't see it......only one completed race in 4 years, and that was a Test event......

I just wonder why it is that Blevens just collapses as the season goes on. Same as last year, except his hot streak lasted longer. Still, he completely exploded the last 2 races

I think he's missing the US Nationals, so he can recover and rebuild the form; his last two XCO races haven't been great, but the XCC form is still there. But the Worlds & World Cup Overall are his targets.......

Remembering last season, Hatherly won in Les Gets just before the Olympics, and kept the great form for the rest of the season; Olympics 3rd, Worlds 1st and World Cup Overall.......

Luca Martin has hit form, and could be a threat for the rest of the season.....Last year's top U23 Riley Amos doesn't seem to have stepped up like Luca has - which I didn't think would happen - but I'm not sure Trek is the team it could be at the moment.

While not surprised he hasn't challenged for a win, I am surprised he hasn't ridden some top 10 finishes, and he hasn't been close.

It's been an interesting year for those former U23's! Carter Woods has had some real challenges in the XCO events, generally finishing way down. Better in the XCCs.

He might be aiming for 2 peaks this season... early races and Worlds probably - that is more usual/natural/normal than shady Pogacar's 8 month peak shape from early spring till end of September. Looking forward to WCH, we might see some interesting racing and surprises...
I think that be the plan. He does tend to be able to start well and push it (thus natural at XCC). But when his form goes he just has this massive fade from the front, which I am pretty sure the altitude of this past weekend did not help with.

He did have a long and early peak, so let's hope that he did not dig too deep and ends up paying for it for the rest of the season. By pushing on in the current races, he could be in a bit of a whole (like the one Victor K seems to have fallen into)

Jenn Jackson doubles up with the women's elite Canadian XCO title. Cole Punchard takes the men's elite title after Carter Woods flatted out of the lead.

Other than a 2 minute highlight on YouTube, do you know if these are being streamed anywhere?

Both the Road, and even CX Euro championships get much better coverage than the XC MTB Championships.....Live coverage of Junior, U23 and Elites.......

The Women's Elite was on TNT earlier today, with commentary from Jez Cox, then he disappeared, and Marty McDonald's voice appeared........
For some reason TNT have BSB on both TNT 2 &4........

It's funny you mention the course - in her interview, Jenny said it was a nice natural course, and didn't like the way World Cup courses were going.....too many man-made features.

Pidcock did what he usually does; paced his way to the front, then when he was ready, put the hammer down, and gapped Charlie for a GB 1-2....heady days which seemed unlikely 10-20 years ago. Saying that, I'm not sure what is behind them.....the Junior/U23 results weren't exactly great - the upcoming talents are on Road/Track.

In the 90s most of the races I did were at ski hills, and the only man made things were over rivers/creeks. My favorite race back in those days though wasn't at a ski hill, but a mountain sticking straight out of a lake. Still to this day, it is some of the most fun single-track that I have ever ridden/raced.
