Cofidis gains only 33 points today on Astana. New difference 2619. Fretin would have been at least second, if they would have catched the break. Kanter was held up by the crash and was not able to sprint. Interesting to see what tomorrow brings, as there are really big amounts of points possible (bettiol was fifth last year, aranburu was in good shape recently)

UNO X the big winner of today. They have been impressive so far this season. I didn't even think about them for WT status in 2026, but it doesn't seem impossible anymore. Anyways, even if they don't get that, it's looking really good for guaranteed Wild Cards for next years and that's gonna open a lot of doors for them. Maybe even a chance to go after someone like Pedersen?

Tudor also had a good day with Trentin in the top 10, so it’s still extremely close between them. Uno-X leading with 34 points on the Live Ranking. The period from now until Ardennes should suit Uno-X better than Tudor, so it would be a good period to gain a bit of a lead.

Yeah that's my bad, I completely forgot Tudor, I was for some reason looking at Q36.5, but they won't be a problem anyways probably. Let me rephrase it, if Astana manages to catch Cofidis or another team in the top 18, they will probably have guaranteed WC. Or just get into that top 18 yourself I guess.

It will all depend on budget I think. He'll be pretty expensive but then again Kristoff is retiring who is like their highest salary and with guaranteed GTs it might help get more sponsors in. Then they would just need to stay top 2 but riding all WTs will help with that.

Too bad the greater public won't see all the suspense cycling gives us! It's really a great duel!
Would love to see UNO X helping XDS-Astana realing in Aranburu/Onley in a Tour stage to prevent Cofidis/Picnic getting some points.

Probably at some point during the Vuelta the national broadcasters will wake up and publish something about the promotion race.

This season Girmay is climbing much better but sprinting much slower. The Dwars - E3 - RVV combo looks crucial for the team. They need to score big on those races with Bini but also with Rex and Braet chasing minor placings (Top 10, Top15)

I also insist on calendar. They need to start adjusting and assigning better the riders to races and focus on chasing points. Otherwise things look worrying.

Cofidis needs Aranburu to step up, at the moment Fretin is giving extra life to the team.

As for Picnic, I think they will end up safe, but they rely on Poole, Onley and a big last dance for Bardet in Ardennes, Trentino and Giro.

Finally, I think Uno-X has too big of a gap to bridge. They don't have enough big scoring riders to realistically bridge 3500 points to two out of Picnic, Cofidis and Intermarché (I take for granted Astana will stay above them given their start of the season)

Uno-X have been doing realy well so far.
Uno-x are now less then 2300 points from cofidis.
in 2 months of racing they cut the gap to cofidis by almost 600 points and 800 to DSP.
they cut the gap to wanty by 1200 points.
if they'll continue in this pace they will gain 2500 on cofidis, and more then 3000 points on picnic.
and 5000 points on wanti.
so i do see they have a good chance to catch at least one of the teams, if not more.

Uno-X are the most likely to come up for me. Arkea don't look like it and I think Astana have spent too many tickets, which was always gonna be their struggle coming from so far back.
i agree about Arkea, they seem to raise the white flag already and have most chances to fold by the end of the year. i bet their riders will start to look for jobs for the next year very soon.
Astana did start to loose momentum recently, but they still cut a lot of the gap in a short time, so let's see about them.

Astana have had a bad week in the French races and Milano Torino but they did get a double top ten in Paris-Nice and 11th in MSR was decent, too. I wonder what form Scaroni is in for the Coppi e Bartali week, and then if Bettiol is even alive at this point for the classics. Fortunato might sneak a top ten in Catalunya, too. It's strong startlist though, so maybe that's tricky.

I actually think a lot of Astana's hopes rely on Fortunato. On social media he hinted at a very intense 2025 so we might be in for an old school 90 race day season. And being Mr consistent he'll be scoring pretty much everyhwere he rides (although never scoring big). He needs to stay on his bike.

I have little faith Bettiol will pick it up for the cobbles, but a late season peak could bear a lot of points. He's so unreliable and prone to ailments that you never know what to expect though.

Current gap from astana to cofidis 2570, still 110 points higher than the lowest we had. With the current results, they will make up around 200 points at catalunya and coppi bartali. E3 should not result in big points for both, astanas squad with teunissen seems to be a bit stronger

Getting to the point that it's the gap to Picnic that matters more. Cofidis might fancy some points at GW though, as will Astana (though maybe just by getting someone in the top 20)

Picnic heavly relies on Onley/Poole (out) and another lucky strike of Eeckhoff/Lund but all the rest is collapsing. Just look at the squad at E3 and half of the Catalunya team. Thats not WT worthy.
