Picnic also have six riders on the injred list. They are in a world of pain.

Probably even more cause Vermaercke has been missing races and Dinham well... I'm not sure if he will ever be on a good level anymore if he even ever starts racing again. And then you have Bardet and Poole who are only coming back now from injury

Huge day for Intermarche and I believe its fair to say that they can lower the shoulders and stop looking back.

Hoelgaard scored 200 points for Uno-X, but team wise they had a horrible day with Abrahamsen getting sick during the night, Kristoff and Tiller went down in a crash early on and Wærenskjold punctured before Arenberg.

Astana also had insanely bad luck, three punctures on their best riders in good position.

Cofidis and Picnic i didn’t see at all.

After itzulia:

Astana: 612
Cofidis: 431
PicNic: 169
UnoX: 120
Intermarche: 38

Bad for astana that martin got the 3k rule. By that he got before velasco and champoussin and stole 32 points
Full points this week:

Astana 692
Intermarche 558
Cofidis 461
UnoX 365
PicNic 174

So far this month:

Astana 1248
Intermarche 924
UnoX 690
Cofidis 649
PicNic 279

Gaps as of now:

Intermarche: 0
Cofidis: -1726
PicNic: -2198
Astana: -3511
UnoX: -3810

intermarche scored 520 points today and should be safer now. Not totally safe, but it looks good. Astana still on track despite the bad luck today. Gap to PicNic almost down to 1300 points, Cofidis is now at a bit less than 1800 points and UnoX passed by 300 points. The remaining month will be difficult for them as they are driving fewer races than the other teams and will rely on good ardenne classics to not loose ground in the second half of april. Scaroni will not ride amstel, so this makes it even more difficult.

But really hard developments today. Before the group of ganna rejoined, UnoX hat 6 guys there in the front (5 peloton and 1 break), astana and PicNic 4, Cofidis 2 and Intermarche 2 (1 peloton, 1 break). Then 3 guys of UnoX and 2 of PicNic crashed. In the same time the Ganna group came back and in the following part there were up front 6 guys of Astana, 3 UnoX, 2 Cofidis, at least 5 of Intermache and 2 PicNic guys. Astana lost 2 after Ballerinis puncture because of the spectator, as it seems Toneatti tried to help him back and Ballerini crashed on the chase. Together with the puncture of Teunissen and Fedorov, its fair to say Astana could have made at least 400 points more today.

Bad luck for both Astana and Uno-X today. Apparently Wærenskjold was in the group with the riders that finished from 9th and downwards when he had a bad crash on Carrefour. He could’ve potentially scored 120 points more than he ended up scoring if he had stayed on the bike there. Astana could’ve easily scored a lot more aswell with a bit more luck. But hats of to Intermarche.

Firstcycling has Astana on less then 1200 point from WT place of Picnic! In races like FW, AGR, FW, LBL, Astana can score huge if they bring their A-Team. Velasco seems to be on fire.

Champoussin, Velasco, Tejada, Lopez, Scaroni, Ulissi, Conci, Fortunato, Henok
(yes I know the AGR preliminary startlist has other names).

Btw: who is rooting for Astana and who isn't?

yeah, luck is always a part of it, of course. Mayrhofer and de Bondt had attacked and passed Philipsen in the end already, for example, but then missed the entry to the Velodrome, so more points became available again.

I'm rooting for Astana because I will be forever grateful to Vini for winning the London Olympics race.

The official UCI data comes out Tuesday, but I made this chart today anyway.

pubchart

The chart above the gap was -4707 to start, and is now -1303.
They have shaved 72% of gap in 12 week.
So only 4 more weeks to catch 18th place?
