Well, we're seeing a few little moves here, but the rhythm isn't there until an attack provides more of a selection. Lizzie's move was picked up instantly by ELB and VDB. Dygert had more of a chance because the big name three were watching one another more, but now that Dygert's had one go like that, she may be watched a bit more closely.

I am wondering . . . could it be that Annimiek saved a bit during the time trial, when she realized she wasn't going to be able to beat Dygert? OK, probably not the case. She did look pretty spent by the effort (and still medaled).

In fairness only Welles there is comparable to most team’s second in command. If the Dutch put Mollema or Italians Ulissi or even Visconti in current form it will be harder to drop them if they simply just ride in the wheel. I can see Fugslang following as well along with a few other of the smaller teams going straight to him.
Yes, so how many are we talking about? He's in the best form he's been all year (his words). In Limburg, Bouwman, who is a decent timetrialer as well and came with his Giro form, tried to bridge when Evenepoel had a gap of 100 meters. He never made it.
And he's shown many times, due to his small posture and aero form, combined with the wattages he pushes, that staying in his wheel is not like staying in the wheel of a big guy like Martin.

No. I can't imagine her doing that.
