UCI Takes on the World

WTF?

It was "60 minutes" who provided the evidence, not Hamilton.

I'm especially shocked by this bit:

The UCI can only express its indignation at this latest attempt to damage the image of cycling by a cyclist who has not hesitated to abuse the trust of all followers of cycling on several occasions in the past. At no time did he see fit to inform the UCI of the events he claims to have witnessed ten years ago, and which he is now using in his attempt to harm the UCI.

I mean: it is pretty clear for even the lesser intelligent among us to see why Hamilton decided to come forward only now. and not 10 years ago.
And it is pretty damn clear why he didn't see fit to inform the UCI.

Like I said in the other UCI thread:

MacRoadie said:
If the UCI was blustering about suing Landis, a man with scarce personal resources, who is actually foolish enough to think they will try to take on a major US television network? An organization with pockets 100 times deeper than the UCI (CBS Corporation, the parent company of the network has a market cap of $18.0 billion US), and with literally legions of lawyers on staff whose sole purpose is to vet information and defend the network against claims of slander or libel?

Leslie Moonves probably had a nice chuckle over his morning latte when he read that one.

And it was Armstrong who told Hamilton (& Landis) - so Armstrong is the one they should be suing for spreading these awful, hurtful, meany, bitter, boohoo against the intergrity of the wonderful UCI.

Question: why don't they sue the former head of the lab? He made the allegation in writing for god sake!

Interesting to compare (in general) the behavior of Lance Armstrong to that of the UCI.

snip - true statement by UCI - snip

I mean: it is pretty clear for even the lesser intelligent among us to see why Hamilton decided to come forward only now. and not 10 years ago.

60 Minutes provided the leading questions and editing,
but Tyler provided the evidence.

It is very clear to many why Tyler was quiet 10 years ago.
He was doping to the gills and collecting big paychecks.

It is clear he then left USPostal to become a better paid cheater.
Still stayed friends with Lance.
Tyler- "Hey guys, slow down, wait for Lance".....Beloki's crash
Tyler - "Hey guys, slow down, wait for Lance".....Mussette crash
Tyler - "Hey guys, this doping sure pays"....tyler 1997 to 2010

And on 60 Minutes Tyler admitted that he would STILL be cheating and collecting big paychecks if he had not been caught. "Wouldn't you?"

However, Tyler was:

Caught by the UCI and banned.
"I Swear on Tugboat's grave I'm innocent"
"Believe me. Donate."
Tyler returned his medal.
Is he returning the ill-gotten donations he recieved like Floyd has?

Caught again by the USADA and banned some more.
"It was medicine. Rock Racing Anarchy Medicine"

But now - not collecting big paychecks any more.
"waawaawaa. Lance squirted in my mouth waawaa"

Why do you feel he is talking now sniper?

I sent this to them before the press release.
"Dear Sir

with reference to the enclosed article from CBS "60 Minutes"

"The Swiss lab director has since given a sworn statement to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). "60 Minutes" has learned that the lab director testified that a representative of the UCI wanted the matter of the suspicious test to go no further. The lab director also testified that the meeting between himself, Bruyneel and Armstrong was arranged by the UCI."

Can you please confirm that you will sueing CBS and all its staff for the clear libelous and slanderous alligations against your esteemed organisation.

Look forward to hearing the date of the writ being issued in the court in Switzerland, just like you did against that scoundrel Floyd Landis.

yours sincerely

Thanks. After writing to Hamilton today (Thanks.... etc.), i´ll now do the same as you, write something to the UCI.

Thanks for the e-mail adress. Hope more will follow.

Fat Pat has burned his bridges with this UCI release, any element of truth he has to go.

I agree. It's like Armstrong's "people" responding to Hamilton by saying Armstrong never tested positive (err.... neither Landis nor Hamilton ever tested positive for EPO, either).

Hamilton: the UCI lied about Armstrong's positive test at TDS2001.
UCI response: Armstrong has never had a positive test.

They had several documents showing black on white that the UCI covered up LA's positive. Did Tyler supply these documents? Of course he didn't. So why sue Tyler? btw. I liked Dr. M's argument: sue LA for spreading the lies.

Did you see/hear anybody denying this?
thought so. it's as clear as you say it is.

and does it make Tyler any less credible? of course it does not.
Does it make LA a lesser big ****? It might. The interview was relatively favorable to LA as a person.
But what/why would you care anyway? What did LA do to/for you for you to defend him?

I wonder if CN has received any letter in relation to the Clinc's banter from the UCI? We all know CN founding Father Bill got harassed for posting anti-Lance facts.

Or has the UCI blocked the Clinic on their account :p

Because he was compelled to. So What?

Love MacRoadie's post on the first page. CBS dwarfs the UCI. CBS has a very large, prominent staff of their own attorneys, and key law firms on speed dial. Can the UCI really be that stupid? No. Hein and Pat are just full of a lot of hot gas and are trying to blow it our direction.

my mail to admin@uci.ch

"Dear Ladies and Sirs,

not only did you accept a backdated (and therefore illegal) Attest for corticosteroids by this psychopath Lance Armstrong in 1999, now you again try to cover up a positive doping test from Lance Armstrong by "shooting the Messenger (Tyler Hamilton)". And i don´t even want to mention the at least six postive Epo-Samples Lance Armstrong "produced" during the Tour de France 1999...
The public has enough of your corrupt organisation.

The game you play is so cheap and sickly that i feel to vomit. With your behaviours you first desdtroyed pro cycling in germany; soon you´ll be left alone with some 12 year old fanboys and no sponsers.

I wish the worst for Hein Verbruggen and Pat McQuaid, so that pro cycling can start anew all over.

Thank you for listening and now do what you want, sue me, France, the world or whoever.

Good-Bye and Amen..."

I doubt Pat will answer any e-mails. I wrote to he, and Anne Gripper, a few years back and got replies. Both were very polite, but he won't write now. No way. A lower staffer may reply to a legit serious e-mail, who knows.

Anyone have the e-mail or snail mail addresses for the UCI board? The voters for UCI positions. These are the people who need to be seriously pressured, to get Pat to step down, and cut all dies with Hein.

Speaking of... anyone know when Gripper's non-compete is up? I think it's soon, and I'd love to hear why she said sayonara, and her comments on this entire mess.

I'd still like to see the day when the Hein/Pat UCI is finally over, and as we've discussed before a UCI with Shenk, Gripper, Ashenden, maybe even LeMond, or even JV when he decides to really speak his mind. All with wholly independent testing, and better communication with riders, teams, fans sponsors, etc. I won't hold my breath, but can hope.

How long has 60 minutes been around? How many episodes have they done?

Think this is the first time that the exposed party has huffed and puffed?

Pat and the UCI are fools.

Any controversy they generate or attention they draw will serve only to make ratings climb for 60 minutes and hasten their own downfall.

Fools.

Dave.
