The bolded races must be a sick joke from the UCI, nobody cares for that crap.

It's a comedy that races like Paris-Tours, Giro d' Emillia, Tre Valli Varesine, Milano-Torino, Giro del Piemonte or Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne are out out the supposed big league of races. Even Bro Leon deserves to be in the WT ahead of those stupid races held only to satisfy big money oil dictators and the UCI anglo lobbies.

I really think that Qatar is not a joke promotion in bolded as the field in this race is usually really good. The rest of them has no place in WT when there is races like Paris-Tours, Strade Bianche and Tre Valli Varesine in HC level.
The crosswind racing is also enjoyable.

Cali shouldn't be WT, though, I think. Quality is too evenly distributed among 'merican conti teams and that would result in some rather big names in the scene being left out. They already get four or five WT teams, the ones whose sponsors are interested in the area, anyway. I think Montréal and Québec are enough and decent representatives for NA. Not sure I'd be confortable with Turkey making it either, for obvious reasons.

The others (bolded by trevim) are a complete joke, no doubt about that. Cookson must go. Really, mudam-se as mosca, mas a merda continua a mesma.

Tour of Turkey should be cancelled now that Erdogan has become dictator. And Cadel Evans Road Race is WT over Paris-Tours? What a farce.. I'm sorry but the only new races on this list that I'll take seriously are Omloop het Nieuwsblad, Strade Bianche and Dwars door Vlaanderen...

Oh, he was good couple of months ago, but now he's a big bad dictator  And now we should cancel some cycling race in his country! Seriously what cycling has to do with Erdogan?! Or we should consider cancelling races in some even more "democratic" countries like Qatar, Oman and Emirates?

Well, since you asked: yes.

Turkey I don't have that strong an opinion, though.

too many races especially in the first half of the year ....

if UCI want's to add new races, they could alternate with some of the current WT races like Tour Down Under, Tour de Pologne, Eneco Tour, Cyclassics (or whatever the Hamburg race is called), Québec or Montréal ....
Omloop, Strade Bianche or Tour of California are ok races the rest of the new additons just adds crap tbh ....

Where did I say he was good a couple of months ago? The guy is an extremely dangerous dictator-to-be. That has been obvious for years now.

Who cares if the Middle-Eastern races get cancelled? Only Qatar is interesting because of the wind.

Are we sure that local teams can't go to this new UCI WT events? I mean, if there's a minimum of 10 WT teams, there's a possibility that only 10 want to go. I'm not sure that filling up the rest with 10 or 12 ProConti teams is a possibility.

I'm really disappointed that California agreed to be a WT race.

It will turn into another lame race like the Tour Down Under. A mandatory race for a bunch of teams that are not interested in being there at all and the smaller conti teams left out. Not good at all.

UCI and ASO sucks!

What does ASO has to do with anything about Cali?

They started as mere coverage providers and now are basically the organisers.

I see, didn't know that.

i'm not against the new calendar, instead i would like to see a WT of 10 teams and lots of wildcards, no more teams like was Eskautel doing cobbles or WT teams sending C- squads to the giro or vuelta.

Something I personally think would be rather cool is if they made it so that the WT teams were automatically invited to the WT races, but not obligated to ride them. A bit, I guess, like the Women's World Tour.
Let's face it; sometimes teams are forced to participate in races where they have no interest, and therefore no real fitting riders - tiny climbers on cobbles - while blocking for teams that does have interest in said race.

The problem with the World Tour is that it tries to combine things that don't mix well... Classic races with stage races...

We need two different rankings: the old World Cup (+ jersey) and a new ranking based just on the stage races (no jersey as that could become confusing with all the leader jerseys in stage races). I still remember how classic specialists really cared about winning the World Cup, while right now almost no one cares about winning the UCI World Tour and it's always the same riders winning because the system heavily favours GC riders.

The World Cup should consist of the following races:

- Omloop het Nieuwsblad
- Strade Bianche
- Milan-San Remo
- E3 Harelbeke
- Gent-Wevelgem
- Ronde van Vlaanderen
- Paris-Roubaix
- Amstel Gold Race
- Flèche Wallonne
- Liège-Bastogne-Liège
- Clasica San Sebastian
- GP de Montreal
- GP de Quebec
- Paris-Tours
- Giro di Lombardia

Gilbert in his prime would have dominated this World Cup I propose: he won 9 out of 15 races on this list! Amazing. :)

I'd add K-B-K and Paris–Brussels to give the sprinters a chance, although the latter race is severely diminished at present, move the TTT World Championships to either the one-day or stage racing World Cup, add a one-day ITT (GP Eddy Merckx?), and finally I'd add a race for pure climbers.

I have to agree with El Pistolero regarding the World Cup. That ranking brought something to the calendar that's quite absent these days. I'm fairly frustrated with the specialization taking place these days, though a few riders still ride diverse calendars. The problem is that there's no overarching reward system for that, and it promotes a further separation of one-day specialists and stage race riders. The World Cup also brought some suspense to the end of the season, whereas now Lombardia often feels like an afterthought for many, and Paris-Tours is... well you all know.

I might, however, nix Omloop and Strade Bianche from the World Cup El Pistolero proposes, but overall I think it's spot on.
