Maybe this Vuelta will turn out to be the first of many cycling events to be transformed from the ground up. While dealing with the challenges of climate change organizers can cover their incompetence.

Hope Evenepoel, but it's going to be difficult. I think he won't be able to manage both JV riders, who will definitely try something on stage 13-14. It's not like they are all going to ride together until the last climb everytime.

If Roglic wins, it will be interesting to see all post-race Roglic vs Heras fights. Who is the true King of the Vuelta? I guess it comes down to whether you value a single Giro win or re-winning a GT in the courts. I can see both sides but lean towards the latter. I mean, many riders have won single Giro (Hesjedal, Hart, Hindley, etc.) but not even all-time greats like Lance Armstrong or Eddie Murks managed to re-win a GT via legal courage.

Voted for Evenepoel.

The riders will meet with the race organizers this evening to discuss whether to turn tomorrow into a second rest day. "It's dangerous to ride a bicycle without being fully recovered, and besides my wife wanted to spend one more day with me," says Vingegaard before going to the meeting. They will also talk about the possibility of neutralizing stages if the temperatures exceed 25 degrees Celsius.

Primoz. He's on form, has his crash behind him. But it won't be easy especially if Sepp is still leading after the TT. Can't attack your teammate if he is in Red.

I have seen nothing yet to change from my pre-rave vote. Enric Mas will win this vuelta! Stocky puncheurs evenpoel and roglic will be dropped in crisis in the angliru. Vingegaard will lose interest, he's not at his best. Mas is just a bit better than ajuso. Vamos vamos vamos!

My dream podium:

1. Mas
2. Soler
3. Landa

Kuss will get Sastre’d, the only question is who is Carlos Sastre and Andy with Evenepoel as Evans.

Rogla will win it, Ayuso 2nd and Mas 3rd

Wow. I am in agreement here with Blanco. A first, I imagine.

I kind of expect Remco to ship minutes on one of the big mountain stages.

If he doesn’t, then it will be very close between him and Rog.

He could go for bonus seconds I guess to snatch them from Remco. The only problem is with Kuss in red, there will little incentive by GC teams to keep breakaways in check…

And under 24 degrees Celsius.

So how was the weather on the rest day, more rain? How's that going to effect preparation (which Ma Vingegaard knows all about)?

I voted for Remco, i am a huge fan ofcourse. I know its gonna be difficult , but if he succeeds, he will be the Legend that beat the almighty Jumbo. So im in full support of Remco.

I keep my bet in Roglič. Hope that Remco or Ayuso win the race but beating such a strong Jumbo squad is going to be a hard task.

I chose Remco. I think it could easily be Roglic, Vingegaard, or Ayuso, but, much like @Big Doopie , I’m expecting the worst and hoping for the best.

I think Remco will really demolish tomorrow, he’s gotten through his bad day OK, Roglic will ride too defensively to take much time from him, Vingegaard just won’t have it due to poor prep and just not caring that much, Kuss will fold, and Ayuso isn’t there yet in his development.

I voted Almeida for obvious reasons.
But rationally I think only Roglic or Remco can win it and I therefore wish it's Roglic, of course Kuss might be a possibility after tomorrow, as well as Ayuso. And Jonas is never to be discarded, of course.

Has anyone ever done better than Sastre in 4th, doing all 3 grand tours in a single year, since the current calendar came in?

I voted other/vino for Landa who was unjustly bumped from the poll to make room for Almida.
Landa is unpredictable, there is a 10% chance he drops everyone on angliru and wins in a spetacular fashion, a 20% chance he gets a decent top 5 and 70% chance he spend the rest of la vuelta in the grupetto.

Almida you just know he's going to finish 4th.

Landa should be included over almida.

Been away on holiday and come back to hear that the Vuelta is carrying on as before I left with arbitrary finish points cos of a little mud and Remco still complaining, This time that no one told him he had to beat Roglic to the line ?

Gosh cant wait for the next 2 weeks o_O

with the way the flooding is going in Madrid it might be the best swimmer that wins this Vuelta

But I am sticking with Primož Roglič. ...still no reason that he cant win

However I too would love if it was Kuss...
