so, who might be the one being able to drop sagan today? I can't find any detailed info about the climbs, but they don't look that hard. So some very fast pace will be needed to drop him. Is there anybody that could do it? Maybe Garderen should be able, but sagan looked quite good also compared to him on stage 2.

I'm just glad there are big races in the US like this and California, and that I can watch them live while I work or just hang out. Beautiful scenery and some good action on occasion. Beats...well not football...but everything else.

thanks, now that I see the percentages, mainly down the bachelor pass, if sagan is in the front group near the top, he should attack before the summit and then hit it on the descent. It looks so technical that he might do there well over minute on others, maybe even close to 2 minutes, considering what he gained on the descent to finish on stage 2, where there was wide nearly straight road. On the other hand, if the pace is too high a and he's not in the front group, he definately be there in by the half of the descent.

thanks. yep very technical descend

so bachelor gulch according to my calculations, 8,5 km@6,9%. this is harder than hasliberg in suisse where sagan displayed his greatest climbing abilities until now. if there will be super hard pace, he won't make it for sure

i will go with andy schleck

Thanks for the link. 8km @ 7% with last 5 kms over 8%. I think it is quite tough and enough for Sagan to be dropped.

Yeah if a few climbers start attacking in the middle of the climb I cant see Sagan staying with them when it's 8%. If Sagan gets over the top in the lead group he wins.

well, if garmin rides it in tdf crazy mode then yes, however i don't see that coming as they would probably be working against the yellow, and from others teams, there not enough people that could do it. BMC will definately want do something, but appart from Garderen, maybe frank, others are below sagan and even those two might not be better currently, because nobody sees into sagan or them. It's same with saxo, maybe columbia team might try, but they haven't seem to be very fit so far.

I'm betting Sagan's climbing legs are probably quite good considering he's preparing for a super hilly worlds course. My bet is that he won't be dropped and will win again.

I think Sagan will get dropped but not by enough he can't get back on on the descent.

Realistically, anyone solo or in a small group needs 30s to a min on him starting the descent. 2 mins if its Andy Schleck :)
