A post by Betsy is saying that Armstrong has to also pay the USADA's legal expenses. Mmmm...how does that taste Wonderboy?

No one else pick up on "public"?

It jumped out to me.

However, for some reason, I am not as optimistic as everyone else here. I am imagining no end to the spin, based on the fact that it appears the judge actually did get sucked into some of it. If he didn't, after reading both WADA's letter and Pat's letter figure out what a pile of $%^#@ the UCI is, then that worries me.

If USADA have acquired most or all of their evidence from the fed case then why did they close that case as it seems to be very strong evidence.

The only thing I can think of is that while the investigation of the Feds may have proved indisputably that he doped they might have had problems making the connection that he used tax payer funds to carry out his doping as opposed to his own personal finances.

That second paragraph is probably it. It is a big leap to go from Armstrong doped to Armstrong defrauded the USPS. There was a chain of people involved. How do you prove the guy who signed the team's contract with USPS had knowledge of the doping? That guy will claim he was in the dark. The case could become a morass of who knew what and when did they know it. The management could claim they knew nothing while the riders claim they did not personally commit fraud because management knew the team was doping.

The pointed mention of public in USADA's statement was simply them letting the whole world know that when closed arbitration occurs, it will be closed at LA's insistence not theirs.

Also, I read the judge's decision not as falling for anybody's BS, but simply as him taking pains to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, even while ruling against Armstrong. I wouldn't read a whole lot into that. I thought his ruling was fair and accurate (despite Armstrong's hopes and everyone else's fears, including mine.)

Why is Armstrong wasting taxpayer money on this witch hunt against the USADA in federal courts?

THIS is the point people need to be making in the mainstream media !!

I read this like you did maxiton.
At first I thought that they were pointing more towards USADA but reading it over was clearly making the points at both for not working together.

I also disagree with the slant that Laura Weislo put on it as leaning more harshly on criticizing USADA as I don't think they did...they singled them out maybe once but usually spoke to both USADA and UCI in the same breath. ..and also added a nod at USAC then rebuked them all.

If he was that upset or fearing USADA were abusing their power then he would not have dismissed. I think he was just clarifying that everything needed to stay fair and without prejudice.

LOL, not very good I imagine....expect a "statement from Lance" in the next few days, claiming they'll go to arbitration, then he'll try to spin it some way to make it seem as if it's another "witch hunt". He'll probably try to get a few more congressmen involved. When your own city's judge shoots you down...time to start re-evaluating your options.

He's so stupid though, he'll fight this till the very end, even if it means paying out millions of dollars.....what a huge fraud.

Ya - this was just USADA saying, "we are happy to have the arbitration in public, are you?" - I don't see Armstrong wanting any of this open for the public.

I hope he appeals so that he has to pay the USADA's legal fees then too. The attorneys working for the USADA deserve to make as much as they can off of Wonderboy.

I can hear Armstrong's attorney's now telling him that appealing is useless, and Armstrong, in a parody of that Hitler video, screeching and cursing like a monkey. His past actions indicate that he is blind and stupid enough to appeal something that is an easy call on the part of the 5th Circuit.
