Oldman said:I've long said that the higher dollar interests of the USOC and IOC would not allow their franchise to be diminished by bad PR. Add the real $2bil investment by General Electric, parent company of NBC and the necessity to please the public perception; you have a direct equation to real advertising dollars. Lance may be the proper sacrifice at the proper time to highlight Olympic diligence. What politician wants to step in front of that train?

Eventually even Roth outlived his usefullness and was assassinated as he stepped off a plane.

Microchip said:I know! And I firmly believe that his return was because of Contador's ability and working under Bruyneel. Contador would have eclipsed his record.
I blocked out Armstrong's face - except for his eyes - by placing my hand over his picture. Perhaps if you tried it on this one, and the one above, you may notice what I did. Fright!

It makes it easier to find your drawings, which don't seem to be on your blog.
I did find what is almost a reverse Hitler cat.

LOL. I just found a site named http://www.catsthatlooklikehitler.com.
Yea it was a really shameful sporting moment epitomising everything that distinguishes a true champion from an oaf.Turner29 said:No, he just can't stand the fact Contador won.

Also, not to be dismissive to anyone else, but I am mostly interested in RaceRadio's thoughts regarding what I have to say. Everyone can of course feel free, as usual, to wade in with praise/counters/insults/accusations etc. you know, same same.
So, I've been thinking about a couple of points in this whole debacle, and as far as I can see there is somewhat predictably a bit of a consensus that the fat lady is doing her scales, and that the lifetime ban, ensuing vilification, and justice for all (down here at the farm) is on the menu.
But, but, but.... I had a thought this morning that might alarm some of you. A scenario so unthinkable that it would render this thread as everyone's worst nightmare: Namely, never ever EVER ending.
So, let's say that the scenario of George, Levi, Dave Z and CVDV being amongst the witnesses for USADA is true. And I agree it is a distinct possibility. All of them are pretty near the end of their careers. And actually I'd say if they are witnesses then they ARE at the end of their careers. We've all, LA included, assumed they have been offered some kind of immunity by USADA in return for their testimony. But if we look at Joe Papp's case, for example, we see that USADA aren't generally inclined to that kind of generosity, no matter how many dopers you help catch. I think what is more likely, is that they have been offered a form of leniency, i.e. you can ride out the rest of the season, minus the olympics, and then you will be banned for any violations you admit to. So the aforementioned riders accept their bans, and quite possibly lost results, retire, and ride off into the sunset hoping merely to be minor footnotes in a pretty unedifying saga.
Except....if their transgressions were worthy of longer bans than 2 years, i.e they admit to being part of an ongoing conspiracy, multiple violations etc then their bans might actually end up being a lot longer than 2 years. 8 years? For Floyd surely. Lifetime? For Tyler it has to be. Who knows? And why, you ask, would it matter if they have retired? Well, the ban, would preclude them from taking part in cycling in any form professionally. So no cushy DS role at Garmin, no coaching company (incidentally how the hell is Tyler not in contravention of the terms of his ban with his new job?). So Georgie might be ok with the clothes, but not sure DZ's line of **** creams are going to be enough to live off. Ok, so far, meh. They did the crime etc etc. If that is the price of justice in taking down the biggest baddest then so be it.
But then, the unthinkable happens. LA goes to CAS to challenge his lifetime ban and stripping of titles. CAS uphold the WADA code in regards to the 8 year statue of limitations. LA receives a two year backdated ban. Possibly loses 04 and 05 TDF, claims vindication, immediately returns to Ironman and wins Kona.
And unfortunately poor George, Levi, Dave and Christian can't appeal their bans, because they admitted to their violations and accepted the USADA sanctions.
So LA, two year backdated ban, free to compete. Tyler a lifetime ban, no more coaching, Floyd at least 8 more years filling out Starbucks applications, Dave Z two more years of appalling self shot youtube ads for saddle creams. VDV and Levi? Well maybe Phil and Paul are finally on their way out? Or there's always a bike shop.
And what about Och? He must surely be headed for a long vacation from Tyler and Floyd's testimony.
And the final result? Well, the only people who I see as being satisfied are those who have always wanted to come on here and endlessly chew over this. Cos that is what is going to happen.
Peace
