He's also a pretty good descender (certainly in TTs). Definitely the favourite.Jamsque said:TJVG won the pan-flat ITT at the Tour of Utah, he's my pick for this prologue.
I've edited my signature to include a direct link to Tour Tracker, or Shack Tracker as it is being called for this race. Start times vary from 1000hrs to 1315hrs MDT - 1600hrs to 1915hrs GMT.zamasailo said:@benpounder will tourtracker be use? whats the start time in GMT?

You will note that at the bottom of the official maps are general stat for that stage, including the start, and estimated finishing time. Unless someone beats me to it, or really wants to do the stage preview, I'll be posting stage specific threads for the next stage after the conclusion of the current stage. The profiles and maps I will be using are higher resolution that those available on CN's pages - the text of CN's images is not as legible.

As happens often, there is vertical exaggeration to the profiles, so it is flatter than it appears, especially the last long section. It's just a slight downhill after getting out of Garden of the Gods.

Presumably will be a bit of a walkover for TJVG & Levi, not much hope for our Colombian friends.
The Colombians aren't afraid to light it up at 50 k from the finish line, and if they get someone like Leipheimer with them there's not much hope for Tejay, who has made great progress in the time trial but not so much on the climbs.Waterloo Sunrise said:Looking at the profiles again, it's a shame there aren't any genuinely decisive looking climbs at the ends of stages, and nothing very steep at all.

What I find most promising for this race is the energy that the two Colombian teams bring. They will definitely animate the race. There are several Yanks aside from Levi who should show well. And dont discard Andy Schleck - He has been based here in Steamboat for the past week, I'm sure doing some of the high altitude climbs of the route.theyoungest said:The Colombians aren't afraid to light it up at 50 k from the finish line, and if they get someone like Leipheimer with them there's not much hope for Tejay, who has made great progress in the time trial but not so much on the climbs.
