One thing I know, I am 100% sure Pogacar would destroy MVP in a MTT. I'm not so sure MVP would destroy Pogi in a CX course, in fact we simply don't know because Pogi never raced it

Just want Pogacar to attend the gravel WC to see him destroying the field. CX, I'm afraid it will never happen due to clash with road racing season.
Honestly if you believe Tadej could win the XC WC you're delusional.
I'm not diminishing his skills. But it's such a technical demanding sport Tadej would need years of intensive practice and racing to get to the level of the best.
He'd smoke me and I raced when I was young but the gap with the crème de la crème is too big. That being said, the guy will probably win a Gravel WC one day if he wants to. But honestly if Pog would be racing the world cup this year I'm picking 20 riders over him.

You talk like Pogacar isn't an above average bike handler. He is good. I just think we don't how good he would be in a CX race because we never saw him attending a race against the best field in CX races. Some of you start mocking. It is okay, some people thought the same about RVV and then Pogi kicked MVP's ass. I still think MVP would beat Pogacar but the difference would be a lot smaller than the one some of you are pretending to be. Pogacar has one thing MVP's opponents in CX races don't have: Legs.

Tell me you don't watch CX without telling me you don't watch CX.

Ah, tell me you watch very little off-road racing. A good bike handler on the road isn't comparable to off-road riders. MvdP is a fabulous bike handler, but even he struggled when he went to XCO MTB.

You can have great legs, but if the skills aren't there, then you're constantly burning matches to make up ground after mistakes, and it eventually catches up with you. Riders with skills get 'free speed', and burn less matches.

Indeed, Pogacar main strength this year is being ultra fresh after 150+km because effort is so low for him. He only starts sweating when other are already tired.
In CX, races a much shorter, Pogacar wouldnt have such legs advantage.
This can also be seen in ITT :
In the Tour he wasnt THAT superior in ITT to the others. Hell, he even lost the first one despite being 10% stronger than Remco on Beille.

Somehow Pogacar found a way to only spend energy in the last 2 hours of every races.
This also answer to how he maintains form for so long. Which pro would be tired after racing only 2 hours per day ?

I'm pretty sure that if you gave Pog a CX bike and six months to practice that he'd be top 3 in a lot of CX races, at least the ones that have a giant rubber duck mascot. And, yeah, I watch way too much CX. I know these guys are insanely good bike handlers.

But outside of Hermans, who is now pretty much a part-time CXer, young Nys, and Pidcock/Wout, none of them have made a real impact on the WT. (I may have missed one or two who have been on the WT like Joris, but I don't think any of the rest could cut it, although I keep wondering why Iserbyt is still running around the mud and stomping on peoples's wheels).

I also know the argument that they make more money in CX but I still find it a little hard to believe that a few more haven't found success on the road.

Merlier, Vermeersch? Between them and Hermans, it's pretty clear that a second-tier CX rider can have a strong road career. Conversely, Van der Haar is a far superior CX rider to all three and he did very little in his WT stint. So while there is a relationship between CX and road ability, it is pretty moderate in size if you're only looking at the pros.

Hahahahaha. You owe me a coffee.

Images surfaced in 2023, when Pogacar participated in the Ljubljana CX, which he lost to some guy named Mihael Stajnar. I would advise you to watch said images. Technically he is so, so bad. Makes Van der Haar look like Mozart.
