Victor Conte is still making money off mugs, this time through SNAC, his new supplement company - Scientific Nutrition for Advanced Conditioning.

Amir Khan is one of his clients apparently.

He's a foot-in-the-door salesman. These guys never change.

Tomasso Buscetta and Sammy gravano did though, when asked to tell what they knew, say what they knew. Conte could be used the same way

One of the useless lines he flogs is called Ped.

Conte wallows in it, like a pig in mud. Very entertaining but, like many fast-talking Americans, you never know where the bull stops and the truth begins. WADA would lose credibility fast were they to place faith in him, at least publically. They can read his "stuff" like the rest of us.

Actually, Conte started SNAC back in the late 90's. His first supplement was called ZMA -- a simple zinc & magnesium supplement that was hyped & priced to the max.

this.

parsing the valuable things he says from the self promotion is the riddle

I think this is a good segment on Conte's credibility.

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=q_lGt_05LLQ

They depict John Fahey as a bit snobbish in his dismissals of everything Conte has to say whilst **** Pound is wiser.

I don't think everything Conte has to say is true by any means.

His talent for storytelling was shown in the interview in the OP when they show the Tower of Power clip he immediately starts saying "Lenny Picket was singing the national anthem the NIGHT before but (was so inebriated) he forgot the words". Before going on to struggle to recognise the clip eventually seeing it was before he was in the band.

I still think he's worth listening to though.

To be strictly factual, I think it was late 1980's. Eclipsed by BALCO, certainly, but always lurking in the background, supplying supplements.

His PED line is a giant p.sstake - a private joke at everyone else's expense.

Well, BALCO goes back to the 80's, but Conte's SNAC venture didn't start until well into the 90's. Pretty sure on that. I agree, Conte's supplement reputation is a joke on the bodybuilding websites.

Conte has offered his services to WADA before and they refused.

I think under Pound WADA did listen to Conte but sadly under Fahey WADA has gone backwards.

Regarding snake oil - I think it was the stuff about sea water that had me wondering.

That was a pretty weird exchange between The Hitch and King Boonen. I'm sorta, . . . scratching my head.

1) youtube video with Conte https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azzhD2QJ8B0

2) The UFC does not want VADA because it will hurt their business bad, probably the majority will test positive for something on the list, the even get caught with these iq tests.

3) The Neveda State Athletic Commision and the UFC does not test for EPO, its too expensive.

4) BJ Penn got bald early, but his brother and father are not bald at all:rolleyes:

That's pretty much known. No testing for HGH either. Dana White talks consistently from a promotional point of view like saying ludicrously it will be the biggest sport in the world. It's a conflict of interests and his comments about fighters would test left, right and centre for marijuana if VADA were allowed to test, says it all really.

I think he thinks I'm implying the clinic is full of nutters with ridiculous theories and got annoyed at the thought I was using that quote to imply everything in the clinic is bunkum and everyone here is a nutter. I wasn't, but this place does bring the crazy out in some people.

Otherwise, I'm as stumped as you. He sure holds a grudge though.

I perfectly happy with the effects of HGH abuse (and naturally overactive pituitary glands), but to say that a guy looks normal in real life so you need photos to show the effects of doping is, quite frankly, mind-boggling.

errr, no.

it is an anamorphic perspective. like those visual perception puzzles, where you stare thru the picture, and the image reveals itself.

like the tennis thread. the most recent pictures on serena, her face and features look feminine. but if you see her face in a long shot, it reveals a bone structure of a man. the heavy brow and enlarged mandible.

this would not be evident 6 feet away. one would focus on individual features. but when the features are put in long shot in photograph, it is different.

speak to a photographer and ask what i am trying to describe

As said, mind-boggling. I have a friend who suffered from acromegaly, it is very obvious, even close up. Implying a photo will give a better impression than real life is, well... I'll stop repeating myself.

that is clinical acromegaly, there is a spectrum. i know you are smart so perhaps dont treat what i (attempt) decribe.

even in pictures, it is nigh impossible to recognise any symptom in harvey. he would look normal on the street http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/harvey-reveals-his-battle-with-brain-tumour-20100612-y4r2.html

And offcourse the signing of Josh Barnett, who tested positive 3 times for roids, which in any other sport would be a lifetime ban.
but no the UFC welcomes him like a star.

AAS don't make you go bald if you don't have the gene they just accelerate the process in people who do.

His physique is wimpy for a recreational Ju-Jitsu practitioner.
