This Tour is over for me. So sad and angry for him.

Wonder how the hell he rode those last km's so fast having fracture on his back. Mental.

Well, Dan Martin apparently rode 11 stages last year with two broken vertebrae and finished in 6th place while attacking practically every day. They did realise he had a fracture after the race though...

Any indication of how long he is out? He was my favorite for the worlds

Somebody above said 15 days off bike. Not sure how long it actually takes to train properly again. 15 days does not sound too bad even for Vuelta, but I doubt he will recover for that. Worlds should be still doable though, but the prep is now far from optimal.

Goes home tomorrow, at least 15 days no bike, further tests most probably with the specialists he and the team trust. We can only speculate that he will be at the worlds, how well prepared with this pause and without the Vuelta, no idea.

I think the only way to be ready for the Worlds is riding the Vuelta, which starts in 5 weeks. I guess it depends on how severely the vertebrae is broken. If it's a minor fracture it shouldn't be a problem. He would start the Vuelta undercooked and then be in top shape by the end of it.

Ah some stupid Dutch drunken guy dressed as smurf.

Sorry guys. These guys are normally the football fans. They only go to the Alpe d'Huez to drink and forget about the team not qualifying for the worlds.
Sorry Nibali had to get caught up in this

Not really different from the Italian idiots that you often see on the Zoncolan, just even more of them.
I think we need more barriers on big MTFs at the Tour and there have to be real consequences for the idiots who run alongside the cyclists/come waaay to close.
