As much as I dont like Horner ,this is a very good interview;)

I agree with him,30-45 secs in that TT,stronger team for Nibbs in mountains?uhhm maybe. And the thing with accleration he described that perfectly! I found out that two couple of years ago, seems really signature for him

Not in the Giro 2013 though. He could accelerate, and after that keep a high pace.

Vino, if Vincenzo retains his lead at Planche des Belles Filles, do you think most the work will have been done ? : "I think so, yes" #tdf

:confused::confused:

If Contador can't drop him on La Planche, i think they think he can't do it the whole Tour.

But the question was about Nibali retaining his lead. If, hypothetically, Contador takes 2 minutes on Nibali, Nibali retains his lead. I dearly hope in that case, Vino doesn't think most of the work has been done.

I don't think anyone believes Nibali will lose the jersey to another GC contender after La Planche. At least I hope so:confused:

Contador sure as hell won't want the Jersey until the Pyreness unless his team magically steps up a few levels or all the other GC look terrible.

Chris Horner GC prediction,

Nibali is better than his Veulta form. I want to slap his face when he said AC can take two mins in the ITT. LOL

http://www.bicycling.com/video/chris-horners-gc-predictions#/video/all/created/d/1
He said it's possible for contador to take 2 mins in the tt but will more likely be like 45 seconds. And I don't see what's wrong with that. Contador has put in over 2 mins into Nibali before (09) and before you say Nibali improved, tt wise he was seen as more of a tt specialist then than he is now. However seeing contadors regression in tt and the very good form.Nibali has 45 seconds looks like a more logical number. Horner is right all the way

I hope he's right:) Berto needs all the seconds he can get

I wouldn't be surprise at all if Nibali is the one putting 45 sec. on Contador.

It depends on who has more left in the tank, maybe even who wears yellow, you know magical power. If Contador has around 30 sec advantage he will probably win, if Nibali has the same I think he'll have the Tour. It would be a hell of dramatic day!

Looking at the comments all over CN ahead of first mountain stage, it seems that most people still rate Nibali's form based on Dauphine, while the guy was there to only train ascent tempo without slighest intention to fight for win... I feel that the AC fans predicting Nibali loosing in each proper mountain stage might get slightly surprised soon. I might be wrong though as well.

I doubt Contador himself thinks Nibali is the same as Dauphine.

I think he will put up a tremendous defense and be much better than most expect. However IF Alberto is really in 2009 or 2011 form Nibs will be dropped. The question is how much time will he lose? Does he have enough of a cushion?

2009 form AC rode flat like that? He maybe in 2009 form in the third week, but by then the gap might be too big even for him to recover.

C'mon Nibbles, get that yellow jersey home! What's the consensus here, should he be aggressive (attack descents etc.) or defensive (just follow wheels and limit loses)?

Well, I know it's tough to say, because we have no idea where's everybody at. We'll have a much better idea after monday. But that yellow looks good on Nibbles. I expect him to have a weakish day somewhere, but with Froome out, Quintana not here and JRod on a holiday ride, this is a great opportunity for our man to win this thing.

History tells us he'll probably be for the most part defensive now that he is in the jersey with 2 and over minute gap to most. If he is riding very well and Contador can't drop him then I could see him being a little more aggressive and attacking.

If he does have the chance to take more time on Contador, he should take that chance as well. Nibali is a great opportunist and he won't hesitate if he has the chance.

Probably the most reasonable course of action, he has the time advantage and others need to do something about it. Getting overexcited and then blowing himself with this GC situation would be really really stupid.

Still, I think that either Nibbles or Birdsong could gain some time today on Contador if Astana rides this aggressively. And if the roads are wet then some bad bikehandlers might lose decent time here. Although Vino might conclude that that is not worth the effort necessary.
