Re: Nibali discussion thread

doooooooooooomed ....I think he/should will pull out. Let the other riders go for stage wins.
I did not expect him to suffer this much. Horrible to see.

What Nibali needs is a race without competition that are better than him. Hes in the same position as the French blokes that finished behind him last year. It's simply an order of ability. Hes under pressure from better riders this year.

Re: Nibali discussion thread

Will Landa stay at Astana instead of the rumoured move to Sky because of this??

Surely they won't let Landa go if Nibali leaves, which he probably will after his humiliation by Vino.

Brilliant...."What Nibali needs is a race without competition that are better than him" :D
Its funny and it seems to be true.

top stuff

Garzelli suggested he's not willing to suffer like in the past years. He thinks he's physically fit and in good shape.

Vino was certainly better as a rider than as a DS. You can't dump your captain after one bad day, the same captain who won two GTs in consecutive years. Don't know if Nibbles dropped Birdsong intentionally. But it doesn't matter anyway. Fuglsang was never gonna be top5 material, let's be honest.

Martinelli, his real DS, Vino has the role of Vino4Ever, said yesterday a funnier thing:
“It seems that someone stuck a speed limiter on Vincenzo.”

It's exactly what's happening and there is no logical explanation.

It wasn't intentional, Fuglsang was just really bad. Also there were no change in roles, he said before the stage. A shame he had problems because he was probably one of the five best yesterday.

He is not 3rd or 4th. He is out of the top10. Are you telling me that there are more than 10 riders better than a Nibali in top condition? If you say that then you don't understand much of modern cycling. If your statement is true than why Mollema/Gesink/Porte etc... have never won GTs before?
It makes more sense the possibility that this year he messed up with the training. It happens (think to Contador back in 2013).

Seems like a good year to add the tour of Poland to his palmares :D

Come on guys. Nibali is one of the tops, for sure. And I'm a big fan of Nibs. But let's face the real world: Nibali can't match Froome and Contador.
Of course there is something very strange with him on this tour... Being dropped in easy climbs by domestiques doesn't make any sense...

TJVG does not mind the lack of form from Contador and Nibali. His possible podium keeps looking better and I was not expecting that. Contador fans will finally stop talking about the double hopefully. Nibali was flying last year. I agree that the opposition is better but it's obvious now that his form is not there. He seemed to win the Tour last year without trying too hard which probably says more about the chances of Pinot and Peraud against Contador and Froome. Let's face it the French are really no closer to winning the Tour even though they have some young talent. Rolland was also going to win this and that but it never happened.

A Belgian sports doctor (Van Den Bosch) suggests that the race to have extremely low weight prevents many riders from being competitive two times in a row. Froome last year, Nibali/Bardet this year as examples. He also thinks the practice shortens your carreer.

Well, looking at Andy Schleck it makes perfect sense :D

Would be happy for Nibali if he left - Vino is spectacularly ungrateful considering Nibali has won the Tour, the Giro, and also the under-40's category at the Vuelta :) All he gets from Vino is abuse and license issues.

As mentioned above if Nibali leaves it does change the Landa situation.

Good. Maybe Nibs planned this all along, forcing Vino to kick him out rather than quitting. I haven't seen big love between the two anyway. Just don't go to Sky.
will you continue to support nibali if he moves to sky?

Re: Nibali discussion thread

I think Nibali have to leave Astana. With Aru and Landa rising there's no space for him. Aru will target the Giro&Vuelta again next year and Landa will probably go to the Tour. Sky on the other hand could use a man to target the Giro and Vuelta. Porte is clearly not up to the task.
